G&G AEGs (The Inquiry)

Okay, so I have been looking into G&Gs and from what I have been reading they are not recommended for the most part, is this correct? Am I to believe that G&G would be a bad choice? Is ICS more commendable? Or is it that if you're to go for a full metal rifle that CA is the way? In the end, what it comes down to, my point for threading... Is it safe to invest in a G&G? (Maybe this time from people who have owned and/or operated one themselves and not just heard.) Thank you for your time.

I'm going to warn you. Most to all opinions will be biased.

There are many versions of ICS and CA. Some stick by one brand, others another brand.

Good luck.

I dont own one, but I have see a couple. From what I noticed is that the hop up needs to be replaced, thats the only problem that I noticed. Oh yeah and these guns are INDESTRUCTIBLE.

search the forums for g&g. i've worked a few and have little good to say. it's not just their m16/m4 variants either. ump and m14 have crossed my bench. i've posted in length about them. others may have them and like them, but i assure you that NO AEG IS INDESTRUCTABLE!!! all will fail eventually, just with g&g it may be your firts game with it. or not. you take that risk though that you may get a dud with any brand, but odds aren't in your favour with g&g.

Thanks for the replies. From what I have heard I can see I am better off investing in a CA rifle.

I have an ICS M4 and think it is awsome... there are a few people out there that aren't so happy with my M4

Good range and shoots well, accurate and hard, approx 400 fps.

I also have a G&G Gr16A2... quite happy with it as well, built solid.

You'll find others who have the same AEG's, but are not happy... but then again same can be said about some TM's, CA's etc...

Can someone tell me if the G&P rifles come apart the same way the G&G ones' do?

(pins fixed into the body, top half of reciever slides forward off the mechbox, inner barrel/hop-up slides out...)

The G&P guns do not have the same level of "fussyness" that G&G do. Of all the guns I've worked on, G&P are by far the best fitting and easiest to disassemble and re-assemble. The basic disassembly procedure is the same between both guns, but with the G&P, you need to loosen the grip/mechbox screws and the stock to get the body pins in and out easily. They are so well machined with good tolerances that everything is tight and feels very solid when you're completed the assembly. Some guys may say that the body pins should come out easy without the lossening of other screws. If this is the case, a common problem is having the body pins too loose and you have one fall out on you. I've also noticed that G&G do not use the standard body pins, but rather a "nut and screw" type pin and if the small screw gets lost, then there's nothing to hold the pin in place.
