G&G M14 Version Questions

I've got a few questions that I was unable to find the answers to from searching the forums, however my apologies in advance if I missed the thread that contained what I'm looking for.

I'm seeing G&G M14's from a few Canadian retailers for extremely low prices, usually around $500.00 from the regular $800.00+. Some of these are advertised as 'Version 2', others with no 'Version' indication. I've also seen a few other airsoft retailers (not in Canada) saying they will or have 'Version 3' G&G M14's in stock. My questions are as follows:

1. After doing a bit of research there were obviously some issues with G&G M14's, however it seems now that G&G has sent replacement parts to the users, and claims they have solved the problems in the M14s and now any shipped shouldn't have issues. Does the rifles with the 'fixed' issues refer to 'Version 2'? Or Is that still 'Version 1'?

2. Is there any difference between the 'Ver. 1, 2, and 3'? If so what are the differences?

3. Would it still be better to go with a TM M14, considering the much cheaper price the G&G one can be bought at now? The main reason I would prefer G&G is because from what I've read they, a) Have a tougher internals, (albeit there has been a number of problems with the internals) b) The gun feels more realistic than the TM one.

Any input would be appreciated.

Comes down to preference of course replacment parts are for version 1 G&G as far i as know. You can get REAL SCREAMING DEALS on v1 I know M1airsoft.com is blowing them out at 500.00. thats a wicked deal

The G&G is a nicer piece, TM M14 is a bit plasticy but there hasnt been any problems with them. Personally if i were a collector G&G if im planning on doing heavy skimishing TM.

Ok first off al i don't know jack about the M14, G&G or TM.
And this is my question.

This one is for the tech guy's on site.
Everybody is complaining about the plastic feeling of the gun.
For me, this is one on my wish list, BUT i hate the current review.

If you had the money, time, effort and above al the possibility to modify the gun.
Stick with me.

Change the body for a real body, No hollow space inside.
Rewire the hole gun and place the battery connection in front of the M14, inder the FT-cover
If this is possible, i have seen on a picture that there is space under the flat-top cover, so why not place the battery there.
Or change the battery to fit it.
Take the plastic FT-cover and go to some body that has the possiblity to make this one out of aluminum or Stanles steel.

In my opinion this is possible, tech guy's what do you think.

I believe you can actually buy a full wood stock for the marui (or G&G I think) that has a battery compartment in the stock. This would make for a very realistic feel and eliminate any 'plasticness' I would think. However that is bloody expensive, hence making me prefer the G&G, and I actually like synthetic stocks better than wood anyway, so...

Actually there is a user on here who put a real steel M14 wood stock on a TM M14.

that would be blastyman from EAR. go to their site as there are some picks of all his modified m14's. the g&g m14 i worked on in september was probably from the first batched released and i can tell you that the internals were tm quality or worse, but definately not better. they used lithium grease in the cylinder, which caused the piston to seize up solid (i had to pry it out) and this led to stripped piston teeth, srtripped sector gear, broken spur gear and reammed out bushings on the spur gear. the spur gear chewed up some of the mechbox as well, but it was salvagable. surprisingly the tappet survived unscathed. the g&g ver.7 is not the same as the marui ver. 7 from what i've seen, but some parts do look interchangeable. this gun piled up after 5 mags or about 2500 rounds. if you get one of these, don't fire a single shot. immediately tear it down and address the lube issue and put a proper cylinder lube in and if you feel so inclined, change the gear grease as well. this should give you some usable life out of the gun.
