Odd M61 Field Pack
I have, what I thought was a M61 Field Pack. Looks like this:
Only it is quite faded. I'd take photos of it but my camera went AWOL. There are no markings on it that I can decypher. There are two things odd about it that I can't figure out. 1) It is missing the eyelets to hook the suspenders to. 2) There is a 1 inch break in the stitching on the cover flap. At the top of the nametag holder. It passes through right into the inside of the pack. The stitching is original and was definitely meant to be that way. I've exausted my search capabilities trying to figure this pack out. Can anyone here help me out identifying this item? |

That is kind of odd I know if it's got the plastic ID cover on top than it's at least a 61 as opposed to the 56 pack but if it's marked as an issue pack maybe it's newer model?
As far as I've been able to find the 61's were used up untill the early 90's at least but I've never been able to find anything on if they ever issued newer versions after 61 and before the more modern packs. Hopefully someone else has some ideas 'cause I'm interested in seeing what suggestions ppl have. Good luck in finding a definitive answer. |

. . . . . . A picture's worth a thousand words. Here is about 7000. I still don't know what it is. Repo, fake, '56, '61? Dimensions seem all wrong for it to be a '56 though. Any help would be appreciated. |

Wow. Ok.
I have no idea. We probably should've had this on IC as someone might know there. Do the tabs where the suspenders attach have a gap through them? Are they loop of folded over fabric? What are the dimentions of this? I've not heard anything about this before.

This is the same pack that Knifewound got a hold of. It's the same size as a normal M61 pack, however the differences are exactly as FNG descbribed with the pictures.
There is a gap, it's like a loop where the suspender attach, and he'll have to some some Alice clips so he can attack it to the belt, or use zip-ties. I was puzzled aswell when first seeing one. |
