Systema M4a1 Training Weapon
Was wondering of ordering this gun as a first AEG :innocent: but it is hard to find a place that sells it! Wondering if any of you have one and will be willing to sell or even just let me know if it is the best AEG out there. I'm not going to use it for skirmishes or nothing. I just like to have the ability to take it apart, put it back together and so forth and treat it like a real gun. I just want to know if it is actually worth every dollar or is there a cheaper way to get a realistic M4a1 through upgrades from a TM M4a1. Just want some opinion. Thank you.

Buying that gun to not use it is ... a waste of a Systema PTW.
Buy a deact. if you want something to handle maybe? |

First of your not even 18 secondly you want to buy a AEG. "I just like to have the ability to take it apart, put it back together and so forth and treat it like a real gun." isn't a good reason to drop $1500+ for a AEG to not use it.
You might as well wait till your 18 go get your PAL and buy a cheap AR. |

Deact means Deactivated. Some companies take real machine guns and weld/cut some parts. After that, they fill legal papers to prove it can never fire again and sell them.
Even then, at 17, you cant buy one. You seem to be looking for the cool factor; dont. Want to play with real or real-looking guns? Join a gun club. Far cheaper than airsoft. |

I don't want to buy real guns, I just want something that is similiar to real but cannot in any way kill anyone. A deactivated gun will raise a lot of questions. A BB gun will not. I'm just looking to get a M4a1 AEG that will last for a long time, which I can upgrade as a hobby. Sooner or later I will be going to games and such but right now school and other things are in the way. But when I get more time, I will hopefully be in airsoft quite heavily.
If you could suggest an M4a1 AEG, with a couple of upgrades off the bat, which will make it into a good gun. I'm thinking about getting the new TM M4a1 but upgrade with the Systema metal receiver and a Prime crane stock. And maybe get an RIS unit onto it. But if you have any better suggestions please let me know. |

Still, you cant buy anything until you are 18. So, read a lot until then or go to a game and see what folks use. Then make up your mind as to what you want.

My birthday is in a couple of months, so don't think I just turned 17. I have read a lot already. I'm not going to try and act smart about airsoft without even touching an AEG. I don't even care if you call me a chairsofter, I just want your guys opinions on what you guys think. Right now I am planning on what to buy, so I don't have to waste more time when it is time to order. I want to get everything set so that by any chance that there is going to be a game near where I live, I could actually go and try it instead of wasting my time picking out what I want in the first place.
Also, I am looking for a cool factor. I think a lot of people who join airsoft are going for that cool factor. They want to be unique so that other people can get jealous of what they have. So don't say to not go for the cool factor. I'm doing this because I like guns and the way they work, not the way they kill. |

This here is what I call "Civic Syndrome". People want the most common bloody type of gun out there and want to rice the shit out of it. Here's a much better strategy for getting into airsoft, Buy something that suites YOU best, not something that you think everyone will think is "cool". Actually I'd advise RENTING different guns before you jump to conclusions on what you want. Is it really worth it to spend well over $1300 on a toy gun, how you know you'll like airsoft? It might just be a waste of money & you'll want something else, or might just quit airsoft all together. BTW, A LOT of stuff you see on peoples guns, RIS/RAS, Lasers, Lights, You name it, quite often never really see's any actual use, other then "looking cool". You want to be unique, Then dont buy an M4 variant, But something barely anyone has. That's why I bought my CA33E, Pretty rare gun In my eyes, as I only know of a couple people across Canada with them. |

Thank you. But I didn't say I wanted to be unique, people in general.
But thank you, I agree that I should get what I want, but I have read so many reviews on the guns that it is really hard to know which gun is better. Because I have never used one before, it is hard to say which one I like best. |

If you want a realistic gun and want to spend less of a fortune, don't buy TM guns. There are several other comapnies out there that make full metal M4's. You'd be slightly more original if you were smart enough to buy a full metal M4 out of the box rather than wasting money upgrading a TM gun.

Oh, ok thank you. I read that CA M4's are quite good as they are full metal. But do they come apart like the systemas when you hit the stock down into two pieces or is it just one piece?

I think it's only Systema and ICS that has the split mechbox design that will let you take the metal receivers apart.
Systema PTW are the most realistic AEGs around and they are also the most expensive. There are lots of info about them if you do a search.

Ya, you have no idea how many searches I have done on Systema M4a1 PTW. If only ICS and Systema have the split receiver, I might just get the ICS then. Are they reliable?

Reading is good, but it does not compare at all to trying one. And do yourself a huge favor; stop drooling over accessories. Some of the best guns in history have been the simplest designs. Dont believe me? Look at the Mauser bolt action (dates from World War I and is still used on most sniper rifles), or the infamous AK, Model (19)47... Accessories dont mean crap; dependability does. Leave the cool factor to fancy cars. Want to impress other players? Shoot well. |
