Just don’t buy horse-drawn or steam-powered as your first gun...

Unless you’re talking about women, then always electric.

What about nerf? Or soldering, or stun!

joke aside, buy AEG rifle. if you want pistol get green gas but something common like hicapa or 1911.

as for brand newer lancer is cheap enough and decent quality. g&g is considered better but alittle more expensive

If I were you, I would go to your local airsoft store and try both. That's kind of the best way to find out what you like. Or maybe at your local field ask to see if you can rent one or if you know someone that would let you try it out for the day. Everyone has a preference, I know plenty of people that mostly run AEG but I also know a few who run gas. It's all personal choice. Myself I prefer AEG just because it's easier to maintain for me. It's my first gun and i'm still learning the ways of airsoft (taking things apart) and I feel it's more forgiving haha.

Gas are more fun, but more work to keep functioning properly

Agree with Hollywood.

But if you do buy GBBR, buy a GHK, It will make you smile.

How much time/effort do you really want to put into an airsoft pew machine? I like aeg myself, as long as you don’t decide to tech the snot out of it, they become “charge the battery & play” affairs.

Electric as your first. Gas are less accurate/consistent and require more maintenance. But Gas is more fun. So much more fun that the little downsides means nothing to me.

I have one AEG as backup in case its too cold and 6 GBB(1shotgun, 3 main and 2 handguns) because they are more satisfying and fun to use.
