G&G cm16 R8 L - change to short barrell

I'm noob and have decided on this gun for starter.

The one question I have is this L version is long version, can it be changed to shorter version like the regular cm16 models?

Have friend who wants same gun, shorter barrell (add suppressor later.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

If the barrel is standard like older g&g’s, it’ll take what ever standard m4 outer barrel you like.

Are the new G&G's proprietary?

To the best of my knowledge they are not, but I’ve not had hands on working on one of them (full polymer ones)

I am not sure about barrell.

I am just doing some research and haven't purchased my gun yet.

I really like the G&G CM16 R8, I have found the CM18 Mod 1 and from what I can tell these 2 are same.

CM18 however is shorter looking, and can attach suppressor so I have shown that to my nephew as an option now. Suits exactly what he's looking for.

I will start different thread after research some more on CM18 model. First purchase for this hobby is HARD!!! Lol. So many factors come into play.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it.

You'd have to replace the outer barrel. Looks like the barrel nut should be compatible with standard outer barrels but I'm not 100% sure.

The R8 as with most of the CM series has its barrel held on with grub screws. You would only be able to replace it with another CM style barrel. Traditional barrels that are attached with barrel nuts are not compatible with a CM's upper receiver.

Best bet is to pick one with a front end you like and mod the other parts to your taste
