We Mag conversion Closed to Open

Is this worth doing? I have one closed bolt mag that came with the gun, and I need more mags as I only have four open bolt mags currently. Are the kits worth it? I seem to recall reading that they often leak and its not worth the price verus just buying a new mag.

Let me know your experiences with it and if it's worth my time.

Thanks.

Depends on how well you seal the closed bolt mags. The kit itself is quite cheap to convert. If you ask me, it is reasonable to convert it at 1/3 the price of buying a new mag.

I need to post this funny.

I’m 99% sure the mag in question is the one I sealed up. It holds gas pretty well, at least it did when I sealed it. I purchased it as a boneyard mag from bigload

If it's originally a closed bolt then it's the mag with the big long plate on the back.

I had those, they were all sealed well with gasket sealer and would still develop a leak about once a year. I switched them all to the 2 piece versions at least 3 years ago and since then not one leak.

So I'd so the math one whole new mag vs. the open bolt kit and the 2 piece reservoir and go from there.
