9.6V 2400mah battery in stock TM gun?
My friends got a TM AK-47 and he's got a 9.6v 2400mah gun in it. From what I recall the stock TM's can't really handle that very well? Am I wrong or is something bad going to happen if he doesn't upgrade some of his internals a bit?

Stick with 8.4v
9.6v AFAIK is only for upgraded guns Might end up stripping some gears, wearing parts out fast, etc with the 9.6v |

He's going to wear out stuff quite a bit faster. It's a V3, and it will stand the stress better than a V2. It's not recommend, but I'd probably do it myself. I'd recommend replacing the nylon bushings with plastic ones, they're gonna be the first part to wear out.

I used a 9.6 in a stock AK and the thing was a feakin bb hose.... Im used to my M4 but it was down and i borrowed a mates AK. Im also not used to highcaps but i went through a WHOLE bag of bb's!!! in skirmishes.... its funny but for a stock gun stick with the 8.4.

2400mah 9.6V overkill for stock internal. bushing, piston and gears will break within 20,000shots.
if you want to play stock power with high ROF, replace it with high speed gears, motors, 7mm or 8mm bearing and your 9.6V 2400 battery, then you can have a BEAM rifle without sacrificing durability. (of course $$$$$ rules) |

What about a 9.6V 1700mah with upgraded bushings to metal on lets say a V3 mechbox on an AK? I am wondering how reliable it would be.

Anything other then stock will reduce lifespan, that's a given.
It'll place the same amount of wear as the 2400mAh, however, the 2400mAh will last longer in a game.

So your recomendation would be to just stick with a 8.4v 2400mah?

Yup. One of the biggest batteries you can fit in a full stock if I remember right. (my 8.4V 2400mAh barely fits in my ICS MP5 full stock).

Uh... I've got a 9.6V 3700mAh in my CA33E stock, which is almost the exact same size as an MP5 stock, without any modification. An AK will however require a very cell unique arrangement for a 9.6V to fit without modification.
Also, a 2400mAh will put more wear than the 1700mAh. It sounds stupid, but the 2400mAh will have a higher ROF meaning more wear on the mechbox, and will increase wear on the electrical system, including motor. My 3700mAh makes my gun run MUCH, MUCH faster than a 2500mAh 9.6V.

So when I get my CA33E I should get an 8.4V battery and switch with him? That way we both get what we want/need?

That could work.

so how would a 8.4v 600mah mini nicd (what i have atm) compare to 8.4v 3000mah nimh (planning to get)? for sure the large will last longer, more rof? power?
this is for pdi150 tm ak47 btw i heard that nicd has more "punch" than nimh, what does it really mean? power?rof? thanks |

It means that NiCad used to be able to provide more peak current, which meant highger ROF. I use past tense as NiMH has improved since then. A 600mAh mini will die rather quickly with a 150% spring, due to higher internal resistance... you'll probably get under 300 rounds per charge, depending on the weather and if your mechbox is upgraded well or not. The 3000mAh isn't a bad choice, but make sure you've got a charger that can charge NiMH batteries. Also keep in mind that in the colder months, NiCad fares better than NiMH.
