LiPo charging question

I've been running NiMH batteries for the most part since I started in Airsoft but got a Lipo battery in a bulk gear purchase and thought I'd maybe do the switch to LiPo. The battery was still sealed in the box and has a sticker with battery checked date of 18/5/2015. The battery is a Turnigy nano-tech 7.4V 1300mah. There doesn't seem to be any swelling on the body of the battery. I had the small tami connector switched out to a deans by my gun tech.

I tried charging the battery with an Imax B6AC charger and as soon as I plug the balance charging plug in I get an error message of 'EXT. Temp TOO HI'. I have the charging unit set for Lipo balance charging 2.0A 7.4V (2S)

Just wondering if there is something wrong with the battery or have I not setting the charger up properly?

Do you have an external temp probe for your charger?

can you charge your nimh pack with that charger? Have you read the manual on the charger? I think you can change the temperature cutoff values, so they could be incorrectly set.

There's a setting for temperature cutoff, although it should be valid for both lipo and nimh.
Make sure you're also plugging in the balance lead, using "balance charge", charging at 1C for safety (1.3A), selecting 2C for the charge mode, and the charger verifies that it's a 2C battery.

Try charging at 2S, 1.3A on "BALANCE CHARGE" mode. Plug the Deans in, plug the little white connector in.

Alright, got rid of my company now

I tried all your suggestions and came up with the same error message. I tried plugging the battery in a new balance charger system and got a different error message telling me that there is a short on the charger output.

I have charged NiMH batteries with the unit with no issues

I'm strongly suspecting that the battery itself is the problem

I picked up a voltage checker and the battery doesn't even register a charge at all and from what I found online, bringing a dead battery to life is a bit of a risky operation so I'll take it down to the battery recyclers for final disposal then.
