Interesting site... one question
I was wandering around the internet looking for information on combat net radios and found this government site. Canadian Army Equipment
The item called "The Combat Net Radio" is something i'd like to add to my collection of pointless but gotta have field equipment. Any idea if there are companies that make non functioning replicas of these things? Thought it might be fun to mod one up and put an FRS radio inside one. :-P |

That's a good idea. Hopefully after modding it, it will be alot lighter.

If I found one I really wouldn't need any of the guts in it... that alone should reduce weight. I'd really like to have one that is the modern version. Not sure if i'd go for a vietnam style with a whip antenna that's about 6 feet long

I've used that radio before on excercises. It'd be a bitch to find one in surplus and as of yet, there aren't any reproductions. The only part that I've seen on eBay is the harness.
As for the antenna, there are two that can be switched around. The six-foot 'whip' antenna (for longer distance) and a small two foot antenna for when you're moving.

I happened to be at the gun show in Mt Clemons, Michigan over the weekend, and they had quite a few radios there (field radios). I didn't get a price on them though. But good to know there are some around for sale.
