cellphone mount

I recently seen one of these:

and I thought right away that I can use this and attach it to the side of my AEG for recording while enjoying the game. In doing so I got two possible questions before I go ahead:
1. Is there any accessory or upgrade that would help hold my phone to my gun?
2. What problems do you expect me to run into?

and the bonus question:
3. what do you think about this idea?

there are cellphone gun mounts(mostly Iphone), I havent seen many use them as they dont want their phone to turn into a $$$ paperweight incase it gets shot.

Tried it. Too much trouble than it's worth.

You're better off getting a $300 gopro than using your phone. Really can't cheap out on these kinds of things especially since you need to custom cut the pc glass to protect your phone since even otterboxes have their limits.

Plus 1 for GoPro.

I found after I got my GoPro, I found excuses to use it. They really are worth it. As far as Airsoft goes though, I moved it from my gun to my head. Guns look down and shake around too much, but a good helmet mount or headstrap is always where you're looking. Some GoPros come with the helmet mount attachment and headstraps are about $25.

Even with a screen protector the phone won't last long. Screen protectors are good for scratches and low impact. Smartphones are so dense inside, a BB hit at close range, even with a screen protector would probably shatter the screen and electronics. The force if the impact has to go somewhere.

Because we're on the topic of makeshift mounts...
Things I have tried:
DIY Lexan camera protector. Couldn't figure out a way to mount it. Time wasted: 6 hours.
Otterbox holster mounted on helmet w/ some sort of band. Time wasted: 24 hours.

Footage was shakey, couldn't adjust angle properly. Best to get a go-pro w/ appropriate mount so you can have good quality + proper angle...

GoPro with head strap gets really good game footage. Better then what a gun mount camera can capture, unless for some odd reason your gun is always up and never looking at something boring like an obstacle or a wall. I've tried an action cam on my chest; kept getting in the way of my sling and visa versa. I saw some pretty cool game shots from shoulder mounts but they do sometimes get in the way especially in CQB.

Thanks for the input everyone. I was planning to create a metal screen protector so in not seeing the screen i guarantee its safety.

I did a shake test and guess what: too shaky to be usable. I guess 400$ for gopro is the only way to go.

For anyone that may read this in future there are anti shake apps to use but the narrower angle of phones make the footage less processional.
