New and in need of advice

Hey guys so I'm pretty knew to the "real" airsoft scene, as in Ive owned a few f the generic pump guns from canadian tire and such. I live in a relatively large plot and have really chill neighbours so my brother and I frequently "do battle" on the property. I'm looking into a sniper rifle (before flaming me, yes I've tried friends full auto's and snipers, I greatly liked the role of the sniper more), but I need some assistance in what to look for. So far, I've picked out this : https://www.buyairsoft.ca/rifles/spr...k-pro-pkg.html

Not sure if it's any good but I liked the look, any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I sent messages to get age verified so I'm currently unable to see the classifieds!

One, get age verified
Two, never get a sniper rifle as a first gun, you will get out performed by aeg and gbbr
three, ctac is mostly rebrands of crap brands with the exception of some models, and results in huge chunk of your money put into to get it perform good enough
Four, it's sniper rifle, sniper is the person who uses a sniper rifle

1) In the process of that haha
2) My brother owns an aeg I believe, I've used it some so id say I'm not a total noob, also we would be sharing guns and it's mostly for Rec on my property or my buddies plot near collingwood
3) Any recommendations then? I like the look of the one I posted but I'm open to others
4) I like the sniper role haha

Yet another typical newbie going "I WANA BE DAH SNIPERZ!"

I have no idea why all new people want to be snipers, even I had a phase of wanting to snipe...then I realised what a waste that would be.

Sniping in airsoft isnt like it is in video games. You wont get one shot one kill (a majourity of the time) especially with a budget cheapo newb sniper rifle. Get a proper AEG or GBBR platform not from Canadian Tire or Walmart, that isnt see through plastic.

Just listen to people. You aren't the first person and wont be the last...in a week or two there will be another thread asking about snipers from another newb.

Also stay away from that website. Crap items for crap prices.

The main purpose I'd use it for would be mucking around with friends on our own property, we're not hardcore or even softcore airsoft enthusiasts, we're just looking to go and have some fun. Anywho, if I were to get an AEG, I have no idea where to begin, I've been looking through posts and such and there really is a ton of info and I'm confused by all of it. Any recommendations?

G&G is always a good idea for a starter, and the ARES honey badgers are actually quite decent, much to everyone's surprise, if you want something neat.

Just remember to wear proper eye protection, ideally mil-spec, and not anything you buy at princess auto. And even though your neighbors are cool with it, you should probably notify RCMP that you're playing airsoft in the area, in the odd case that someone not from the area should see you and freak out

Will take that advice haha, so following the ARES comment, I believe I found what you were talking about here : http://airsoftdepot.ca/catalog/produ...oducts_id=3050

It looks pretty cool, probably going to buy it to be honest.

Also, sidetracking back to sniper rifles, is WELL a good brand? For example these two : http://airsoftdepot.ca/catalog/produ...oducts_id=1525

Thanks in advance

If you're just messing around, then yes. If you're planning to make it shoot really accurately to 300ft, then maybe not.

By near collingwood are you talking a residential neighborhood? If so never play in residential areas, only play on dedicated fields, or heavily wooded areas well away from the public.

It's a little ways out of the city but its really wooded so it should be fine, will notify RCMP beforehand though just to be safe.

A bit off topic:
BloodSport, I thought we weren't allowed to post links to retailers in the non-AV sections? (even if it is the OP doing it)

On topic:
OP, listen to all of those who commented above; their opinions are quite respected on this forum.
On the other hand, if you're just plinking away, spring sniper rifles can be a fun way to do that without all the unrealism of an AEG or the complications of a GBB. In a game though, you'll want an AEG.

Edit:
OP, I think you should alter 2 of your intended actions regarding that post you just made:
1) it should be LOCAL police, not RCMP in my opinion (correct me if I'm wrong on that vets)
2) you should ASK quite a bit in advance, not inform them right before

Its seems you kinda just latched onto the first thing that came your way.

You seem to want to be spoon fed information and told exactly what to buy. Instead of slapping out 400+ dollars (after taxes and shipping) why not take some time and look at the PLATHORA of "good starter gun" 'whats the best m4" "Most realistic glock" "What gun should I buy" threads that are out there.

If you want something cool, you can get base m4 variants, and build interesting platforms off of them. Honestly that honey badger looks like crap compared to what you can make with a stock cqb m4 with some after market parts and such. You can do that with hk 416's as well. Another thing you have to take into consideration is do you want the rifle to function like a real one? If so get a GBBR. You don't play competitively so your shouldn't be in a rush.

Go get age verified and grab something off the classifieds, there's tons of stuff available there for cheap and already modified.

Couldn't agree more. I'm not one for AEGs simply because the first time I picked up a GBBR and felt the kick, that was it for the sewing machines for me, lol. You just want to play around, so experience seems to be your key. Get AV'd and you can pick up a cheaper (but still decent) GBBR for a good price and enjoy it rather than spending hundreds on a POS AEG or springer that you'll dump money into and resent.

Solid/affordable sniper, that isn't a piece of crap = Classic Army (CA) M24. Comes in around $350 - $400. Worth while sniper rifles go up in price from there and all will likely need some upgrading/modification.

Grab a G&G M4 as an ol' reliable backup at around $200.

Before going all sniper, read this;
