TM parts in a WE G17

I was debating whether to get a TM or WE G17. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anyone near me has the TM version in stock otherwise It probably would have been my choice.

I'm just wondering how parts interchange works between these two? Are they universal both ways, or are there any parts that are exclusive to one brand?

-Thanks

Mach1 isn't far from you. They have it in stock.

http://mach1airsoft.com/product/tokyo-marui-glock-17/

Ask them to price match depot @ $265.00

Ah I didn't realize.

Its a bit far since I'm actually in Pickering, but could be worth it if they'll price match.

Parts that are a drop in fit on a TM will need filing, grinding, machining, hammering, or otherwise manhandling to fit a WE.

Just get a TM...... then get any one of the plethora of parts that fit a TM perfectly or near perfectly.

WE vs TM really isn't even a challenge...just go TM. Also read the "upgrading your TM glock" sticky to know what to get.

WE pistols often get overlooked but they can be made very consistent with few modifications. Tight bore, new hop rubber; that's about all you need.

TM is very nice. Just know you will essentially be replacing everything to prevent breakages in using propane. TM also tends to be prettier than the WE Glocks. Something to consider.

If money is not a big worry, go TM.

I agree, I'd really like to own a tm, Its just availability seems to be not as good at the moment. I could probably even go for a hi-capa which would be my second choice.

2 of my friends have the we G17, which makes me comfortable with getting one. But I'll probably feel like I'm missing out.

Is propane also a problem with a we? I was considering getting a propane adapter.

Propane is fine in either pistols, I ran propane in all my Tokyo Marui pistols with zero problems.

Availability is fine, you live in Toronto, and you can go to Mach1 and grab one, just ask them to price match.

Your two friends can share magazines with you (WE + TM magazines are interchangeable).

If you live in Pickering, just go to Heros in Oshawa. They have the TM G17 in stock.

I already asked them.

Their website is not accurate.

I have seen 3 TM G17 slide explode in the last month... all interior fields btw.

TMs will works on propane, for a time.

Hicapas do run forever on propane, but Glocks break the slide in 2 at the front.

If you are considering a Hi-Capa, Toronto Airsoft has the TM Hi-Capas, 1911, HK45, P226, and some other bits. $280+tax instore.

Not sure what their stock was after TAC.

Well as mentioned, tolerances are key.

it's best not to mix and match some of the key internal components.

For example, a WE sear will not work properly with a Marui hammer. Different sized sear hooks, you see.

For the bestest scenario, keep everything as they are. ie. keep marui, marui.
If something happens to break, buy the part that is properly spec'ed for the respective platforms.
