TM 1911 mags gas efficiency
So, I bought an upgraded to the titties TM 1911 which came with 3 used MEU mags.
After playing with the pistol a few games I noticed I wouldn't get more than 22 - 25 shots before the blowback wouldn't be able to load the next round as it ran out of gas. I don't have this problem with my other 3 old school style mags though, which are brand new TMs (25 shots with lock back). My question is, I think the problem with the MEU mags is either the gas routers might be a bit worn down, causing poor air seal, or that they don't sit high enough. Should I .... ? 1. Shim the mag gas routers higher? 2. Buy new guarder gas routers 3. Figure a way to make the mags sit higher, as the MEU mags seem to wooble more than the GI mags which fit exceptionally well. Sorry for typos- I'm writing on my phone Thanks xD

By "upgraded to the titties" I presume you mean it also has a metal slide (at the very least). The metal slide is heavier... upgrading TM pistols like this is almost always a PITA.
If its working reliably I'm almost willing to bet the mags have upgraded (higher flow) valves. This will improve reliability at the cost of more gas being used. Moreso if you're firing rapidly. You don't want the routers sitting too high or it'll cause friction with the BBU and cause even more problems. I mean, they shouldn't even be "worn down" since there shouldn't really have been much contact to begin with.

Yup, it has a Nova metal slide and frame.
Here are the specs: - ProG4 Sear - ProG4 Valve knocker - ProG4 Steel Trigger Stirrup - PDI Steel Hammer strut - Airsoft Surgeon Steel Disconnector Set - Airsoft Surgeon Rubber recoil buffer & washer set - Nineball Piston Head - Guarder recoil spring (150%) - Guarder hammer spring (150%) - Shooters Design Loading Nozzle - AIP hop up unit - TK inner barrel - PDI hop up rubber I hope that is detailed enough xD. I was led to believe it was built by illusion (can't veryfy so though) The thing is, that the brand new mags I recently got (GI type), allow me to shoot the full 25 rounds, while I can't even get 20 shots of the used ones reliably. Which leads me to believe that these mags arent sealing propely for some reason.

I have one from ILlusion that's pretty darn good and yes all metal where it counts. I'd say close to 2 full mags from one charge.

Yeah I remember seeing this piece, it's pretty nice.
22 rounds is fine. That's 2 and a bit mags at real capacity before gassing. |

Jesus. I can barely get 10 shots off my 1911 mags!!! (Granted, different make of gun).

I would love my TM detonics to hold a charge through 23 rounds. With normal length magazines it's 18 rounds on a good day. Short mags hold maybe 8

It's been good to me. I'll run a string tomorrow in the cold.
Rate of fire isn't being discussed here though. What time span are most folks running to empty a mag?

Reporting back
After shimming one of my MEU mags, I noticed that my gas efficiency skyrocketed ! Holly shit, from approximately 20 shots I used to get, now I'm getting 31 ! The kick is noticeably stronger as well :O I'll do some more testing, and if all goes well I shall shim all my other old mags ![]()

According to my research, the Nineball hicapa routers do not work well with single stack mags. Only the Guarder ones are specifically made for single stack mags, but they are hard to find.
This is how I shimmed my mags, I simply fabricated and placed the shims under the routers. ![]() ![]() ![]() Red mag shimmed, blu stock A comprehensive tutorial was uploaded by Lazouche a while ago, which is the one I followed. Here it is: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G4S2sspWmH4
