Held and shot one last weekend, its alright. I've got a WE and I've held a VFC as well so I'm comparing my impression of it against those.

Holding the TM M&P, the first thing I noticed was how light and well balanced it was with and without the magazine. The WE is a little front heavy with the metal slide in comparison but that being said, adding an aftermarket metal slide to the TM may throw things off a bit and make the balance more similar to the WE. With the magazine inserted in the TM, it still felt a bit light, didn't have the nice heft the WE had, but felt decent.

Size wise, its probably about the same or ever so slightly smaller than the WE. The VFC M&P is slightly larger than the WE so it'd be larger than the TM as well. Should have no issues with real steel holsters.

Being a TM, its accurate as expected, I was putting bb's into the same hole with double taps and rapid fire, the lighter plastic slide definitely helped with accuracy. The kick is crisp but not as heavy and nice as the WE with the metal slide. An aftermarket metal slide should fix that though. The WE isn't as accurate in comparison due to the heavy kick and the fact its a WE, but its accuracy is acceptable for pistol ranges so its a decent and cheaper alternative to the TM.

Racking the slide back, the recoil spring felt a bit stiff and heavier than the WE's recoil spring, which was pretty nice. Slide went into battery smoothly with no issues at all.

Magazine cool-down was faster than the WE, magazine was frosted over after less than 10 rounds compared to the WE. Don't think it affected the performance but it was something I noticed.

As for aesthetics, the white dot sights are a run of the mill affair, nicer than the stock WE glow sights and similar to the VFC but nothing to call home about. An aftermarket slide and sight set should set things in order though.

The slide, despite being plastic, looked very nice with deep engravings and clean lines. The ambi-slide safety doesn't get in the way and is easy to use but took a bit for me to get used to. The backplate was accurate on the TM which was a plus, as the WE and VFC doesn't replicate that aspect properly.

The lower had a nice serial number plate and the mold lines were much nicer than the WE or VFC and not as noticeable in comparison. S&W engraving was nice and deep as well. The grip felt a minor bit smaller than the WE but that might be subjective. Inserting a magazine felt a pretty good compared against the WE, mag fit snug and needed a slight tap at the end to get the magazine inserted and locked in.

Interchangeable backstraps, same as the WE and VFC. The rubber and texture probably felt a bit nicer but wasn't a big deal.

The one thing I really didn't like about the TM in comparison to the WE and VFC though, was the finish of the handgun's lower. the black plastic lower had a very "plasticky" sheen and feeling. While the ergonomics felt nice (its a M&P) I felt like the TM lower was more fragile than the WE or the VFC version.

I don't have anything against polymer lower handguns but I'm not too set on the TM after handling it because of the lower. It might just be me, or it might take a while to get used to it but I might wait a while before deciding to get the TM M&P.

If I get a chance to do a more in depth review, I'll post it up but that's my overall preliminary impression of the TM M&P.

You'd be looking at $80 for a guarder lower, and $200+ for a slide set when they come out.

If someone comes out with a proper CORE slide and 10-8 magwell clone, I'll be all over the TM M&P... after I put on a guarder lower...
