Getting back into it!

Hey guys I was getting the urge to start playing again after 4 years.

It seems like there's a decent selection around of airsoft guns my last one was alright for a bit then the plastic frame cracked and gearbox broke( was a cheap Toronto airsoft one I think I paid 200 or so) when it worked it was fine! and allot of fun,

So now im looking at one around the 500 range that would leave me 500 for other gear as well. Is a G&G a good choice they seem pretty decent the all metal ones just hope the internals will keep up for a season , I checked some out a badlands paintball they said they were good just was wondering if anyone else has an opinion on one?

Thanks

What type of gun are you looking for specifically?
A lot has changed in the last 4 years in terms of what's available and especially in terms of what $500 can buy.

If we can get an idea of the type of gun you'd like the most we can point you in the direction of specific brands/ models that will get you the best bang for buck.
You may even be able to come in well under $500 for the gun alone, leaving you more room for mags, batteries etc.

Looking at an M16 style with somewhat shorter barrel, there is a G&G called T4-18 light it looks pretty cool but not really too picky. Something All metal/metal body/frame for sure.

Get a King Arms Colt M4. It's all metal and solid, nice feel to it too. They are only about $250 which will leave you with some cash for a upgrades such as a longer barrel if you want the M16 length, etc.

For the money, it's a very solid platform. Full metal, reliable, etc. No airsoft gun is bullet proof, but you'll find many will recommend this one over others. If you're itching to burn all $500 then look into VFC guns, they are solid and have a wider variety. More money though.

Yes. Not Blue Ribbon, but not shabby by any means.
You can run run confidently (with the appropriate spring) until it breaks, and then just about any aftermarket part should drop right in.
They're also the Barbie doll of Airsoft guns externally, so any mods you might wish to make (fancy rail kits etc) should take little to no work to accomplish (still do your research though).

KA M4s have the potential to be great guns as upgrade platforms, and pretty much everybody does or should have one kicking around their closet as a backup/ loaner/ project gun because of their price point and good parts fitment.

The specific gun you linked looks like an HK 416 though, can anyone give us specific information on those?

Edit: Ricochet beat me. VFCs are tits. Good enough to make most players real happy out of the box, and very, very nice to work in.
$400-$500 would have bought you a King Arms 4-5 years ago, VFCs were things that 40 year olds with lax wives and 20something oil workers owned lol.

Close, oil workers own PTWs. Husbands with lax wives own auto-gating night vision. lol

Take a look at G&G CM16 Raider. Great starter gun, plus room for upgrades. Can be found around for about $250 w/ tax, which leaves a lot of funds for upgrades and other gear.

I own two KA M4s and I love them externally. Internally you're still playing the Airsoft lottery, but the odds of winning are fair. Also, as mentioned earlier, if you do lose, there's a ton of aftermarket parts to fix it.

While I've heard good things about the aforementioned G&G CM16, keep in mind it has a plastic body. I personally think a (decent) metal body is a must, but if you don't mind the plastic, go ahead.

Ya I definitely want a metal body, since the last one I had broke and it was plastic what do you expect tho I guess.

For $500 I'd look at a VFC, the G&G top tech you mentioned is a good gun internally and externally, comes with a lot of internal upgrades above the KA M4 people seem to be telling you to buy. I've owned a KA and externally they are great, internally they are okay, with upgrades they can be great guns, but I personally prefer to spend a bit more up front for something that will be more reliable out of the box. Don't bother with a CM16 if you aren't on a really low budget, it is a decent starter gun but it will need upgrades and the body is plastic.

If you like upgrading your own guns go for the KA M4
If you want some upgrades done for you out of the box go for the G&G
If you want a mostly upgraded gun for not much more than the G&G look at VFC

Also welcome back
