Do We M4 mags come with silent fill o rings?
First post guys, howdy,
My PDW mag was leaking from the output valve and none of the tradition fixes seemed to work, so I ordered a valve O-ring repair kit from Lees Precision Engineering. My question is, does the We-Tech M4(PDW) mags come standard with silent fill o-rings installed on the fill valve, or, is this an upgrade? Reason I ask is, I can't for the life of me tell whether there is an o-ring in there or not. Poking around with a pin tells me nothing and looking in with a bright light, all I see is black. If the answer is yes, how do I get the old one out? If the answer is no, I guess I can just go ahead and slip it on over the fill nipple. Any help is appreciated...thanks |

Does gas spew out when you fill the mag? If not, then there is an O-ring in there.
However they're jammed in there pretty good, I'd be surprised if you managed to get it out without taking the valve apart |

if you see black you have the o-ring in there. otherwise you'd see the brass

@Apathy...even though I was seeing black, it just didn't feel like rubber when poking it with a pin. In fact, after poking around for a few minutes, I noticed little glimpses of brass, so I thought, what the hell, can't hurt to throw one in. Now, when filling the mag, it really is silent, no gas escaping anywhere. So, to wrap this up, 1.I don't believe OEM mags from We have silent fill orings installed on fill valve from factory (but I could be wrong). 2.Lees Engineering o rings are a good replacement, in fact, the output valve use to just slide right in and out. Now, it takes a little push to get the threads to engage as the o rings sit a little higher and tighter. 3.The claim "Silent Fill" is accurate, and will probably save a little gas down the road. 4.Thanks for replying If I end up replacing all the o rings in one of my other mags, maybe I will do a little write up and review... |
