make sure you dry it out.. obviously... I'd be most concerned about the inner barrel bore and the metal in the receiver.
The gearbox electrics can be completely submerged in water and still function... not advisable obviously but there's videos demonstrating it. lol

Wonder if the tactic of putting your phone in a bag of rice would work with AEGs?

Rice absorb humidity, and I'm sure it isn't picky about what contains the humidity, lol.

you'd spend more time picking out the rice afterwards lol.
Split the recievers and put them on dry towels lengthwise down the path of a fan... circulate air... dry it out.... swab the barrel first with the unjamming stick and paper towel though... I use those funky blue shoptowels, they're reasonably lint free and super absorbent.

I put my Gearbox in a bed of rice after it got a good soaking during an 18-hour rainy mil-sim. Didn't submerge it in the rice, mind you, and it dried out perfectly. A gear box is a spinning pile of steel teeth, rice won't stand up to it if a grain or two gets inside. However, do your best to limit the rice from getting inside the box.

field strip the gun and let parts air dry completely. then reassemble and add a bit of grease to prevent rust. RUST is the problem on an airsoft gun.

I shove the gun in a closet and forget about it until next game

Wipe off the water, put it away. Or leave it in an open area/room for 24h and let it airdry as well.

Giving your inner barrel a good clean wouldn't hurt either (as with every game really…) I've only ever played in dense rain once and I just dried off the outside with a towel and let it air dry for a bit in my house. Seemed to work just fine, that said now that I'm a little more knowledgable I would strip it down and air dry the components, maybe lube a few things while its apart.

Actually nobody does the rice thing lol just dry the externals the internals will be fine. At most I would separate the upper and lower and pull out the motor to air dry.

My AEG's inner barrel is a yellow brass or copper or something so there is a zero chance of Rust. Also never cleaned the barrel as there is no carbon powders heat or un burnt gas residue. Ih I played my 733 in a torrential downpour and the hail was so heavy I though we were under fire from op-for. My mags in the pouches were full of water too. Now my 733 has a little rust tattoo on the delta ring from Humanities Hammer! yeah that was a great day. Gun still shoots fine. Hmm I must really suck at this.
