VFC MK18 MOD 1 + KAC Suppressor Inner Barrel Length
I would like to install the longest possible inner barrel into my VFC MK18 MOD 1 when paired with a VFC KAC M4 Suppressor.
According to description specs, the inner barrel of the VFC MK18 MOD 1 is 275mm while the VFC KAC Suppressor is 168mm long. This yields a possible 443mm long inner barrel. However, a thread on this forum (http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=90469) mentions that only a 420mm inner barrel will be covered by both the outer barrel and suppressor. What length should I purchase? Ideally, I would install a 455mm inner barrel to perfectly volume match my cylinder, but I need the inner barrel to be completely covered. Is it even possible for me to cover up a 455mm inner barrel with the combination I mentioned? Madbull is releasing a new KAC licensed mock suppressor within the month. Will that be long enough to cover up a 455mm inner barrel? |

How steady are your hands with a hack saw and file?
Ya may have to trim a tad off the end of the inner barrel. Other option too is to put a small outer barrel barrel extension on, but then you loose the 100% look.

Best bet would be to measure everything yourself, or use a 455mm barrel and get barrel extensions to push to the right length

I'd like to eventually get there, but I want to keep my VFC in the MK18 MOD 1 configuration for now. I will be purchasing a custom cut PDI barrel from x-fire, which is why I want to know the exact length I can possibly use. I would measure it myself, but the gun and suppressor are both in the mail. If possible, I'd like to purchase the barrel soon so that it will arrive soon after the gun arrives.

420 would make sense though, as the threading probably takes up 10-15mm and te barrel probably goes into the flash hider 10mm or so

I suppose I will be limited to a ~420mm inner barrel then. I know that 455mm is the perfect length for an O-type cylinder, so I wanted to get the 455mm to maximize air volume efficiency and minimize sound. However, I don't want to add any more external modifications to the VFC besides the suppressor to cover up the inner barrel. Accuracy to the MK18 MOD 1 and limited funds are the reason for that.

I just want to add a quick update for future readers who had the same question I had. The actual length that can be accommodated by a VFC MK18 MOD 1 with a VFC KAC QD suppressor is 437mm. However, the 420mm works quite nicely since it ends a little before the suppressor end, minimizing the chance of getting dirt inside the inner barrel.
