ACOG + Docter Sight: Quality at a good price
There was a VERY OLD thread on this, but didn't feel like necroing it.
Now I think we all know that the airsoft ACOG replicas can be VERY hit and miss. I had one a year ago that was okay; decent eye relief, good clarity. I sold that though and went onto a quality EOTech for a build I did. As now the outdoor season is starting up again, I want to add something to my outdoor primary that has the functionality to be used for precise range shots as well as the ability to snap on close range BB fodder when transitioning to a building (ex. PRZ). Personally, I have always loved the look of the ACOG even though the Spectre DR's are puurdy. I want an ACOG with a Docter sight, I'm set on that, but there are so many replicas on the market present day that I'm not sure which one has the best chance of not being crappy-crap. Not trying to waste monies on trial and error. Now, send me the recommendations oh wonderful ASC brats. Thankya kindly.

I have indeed considered that as well, however I would like to look at the versions bought in combination firstly before going that route as generally I can save some sheckles doing that.

I have a combination one that I'll post pics of when I get home but until then here are some of my thoughts on it. The eye relief is decent, the sweet-spot is fairly small but once you find it the sight works great. The RDS is nice and crisp as well. Main downside is that for an airsoft clone it's pretty pricey (~$200). That being said it's still no where near the price of an actual ACOG.

Sell your family members and buy a Real-steel version.

Thanks dong. May I ask what brand it is and where you purchased it?
Buying an optic that costs more than my already super pricey rifle is anno go for me. NODs before that for sure. Lol

Stay away from this model, or at least, be very cautious if you do.
http://www.torontoairsoft.com/ACM-AC...ht_p_1072.html I have this one, and while it looks good, it does NOT have the fiber optic, therefor, no illumination whatsoever. The front post sight is not straight and the reticule/crosshair whatever you want to call it was angled when I got mine. Granted that one is an easy fix, but I did find it hard to zero it. Also, if your going to use it for a GBBR, make sure it's on really tight, otherwise it will loosen and maybe fall off (almost happened to me). The doctor sight works great though, I'm using it on my SCAR right now. I've zeroed it once and even though I haven't fired, I've taken it on and off and it's pretty much maintained it's zero. Only times I've really had to adjust it is when mounting it on a 45 degree angle and now because I mount it fairly far forward on my receiver. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I'm going to stay away from these A.C.M. clone sights from now on... |

Hormone from eBay
(Not THAT one but should be the same: http://bit.ly/1gr9RbI) Working fiber, docter sight and iron sight came with a stand alone picatiny mount for the docter sight too, a nice plus (and not advertised) Build construction is nice, external quality looks good. Adjustment screws has a nice click to it, *seems* to be mil spec adjustment but I can't confirm that Haven't got to zero it yet, or game it obviously. Will use it on a GBBR, hopefully it will hold Eye relief is not THAT great but not too bad either I'll probably have to put it the closest to my face though |

The SpectreDR is nice, but I prefer the look of the ACOG.
That one you have posted, MultipleParadox, seems pretty legit in the look. Just curious; you bought it off of eBay? How long was shipping? Was it well packaged?

Nothing to be crazy excited about but decent
Coated lens No switch, always on, kind of an issue since you need to remove it completely to put/remove the battery It also expose a ribbon cable = don't do this on the field No intensity adjustment either |

Gay. Who makes a sight you can't turn off?
My quest continues..

Real ones don't have switch either
However they're supposed to turn off when you place the cover on it (not the case with mine) That said, it'd be easy to buy a different repro docter and use the included mount Just stating options |
