Skipped cycling on semi after spring change
So I just tried changing the spring on my CA M4, and when I test fire it, it cycles fine on auto. But when I use it on semi (or auto for a few seconds and then try again) it sounds like it doesn't cycle; almost like it starts to but then stops right after. Not sure what it was, but I have a feeling it was when I fiddled with the anti-reversal latch spring. I did see it wasn't engaging properly before I put it back together.
I'll try to open it up again when I can. If it is the latch, any ideas on how to increase the tension on the spring? I had tried opening up the spring a bit but I didn't want to warp it too much. I can post a video later if need may be. Just wanted some ideas as IF I need to get a new ARL, I can do that when I go to TA in the next few days |

What battery are you using?
What spring did you take out and put in? Does it shoot when you select "auto" after it failed shooting in "semi"?

>I swapped between an 8.4 nimh crane and a few 9.6 nihm butterfly batteries, same problems
>I changed what I think was an aged M90 (I had chono'd it at around 300-310) for another spring I had that was shooting 330-335 in my UMX G36CV >It was firing in auto, until I stopped firing then tried again. It would skip a cycle then keep going in auto but no BBs were coming out |

Here, I uploaded a video. Watch the sound as it might be a bit loud

That's the sound of your gears reversing because the anti-reversal latch is either broken or not installed properly.

To me it sounds like the piston is returning to the front of the gearbox, it is possible that your ARL is out of place or that the latch is in place but your spring is not.

You don't have to bend the spring very far, just enough so that the anti reversal latch contact's the bevel gear. Also make sure the latch is on the correct side, I've seen one gun where the guy put the anti reversal latch backwards and it was contacting the spur gear... And also one where the guy put the latch spring under the wiring (you shouldn't have to do this), and the spring did not have enough tension to push the latch into the bevel gear.

Okay then yeah, it's most probably that. The ARL had come out of place and I didn't know how to put the spring back properly so as I tried I put the latch upside down so I tried to push it into place and bent the spring the wrong way.
I just wasn't sure how to open up the spring because when I tried, the centre coils were going askew so I thought it was going to warp it |

When you bend the spring, bend it while it's on the anti reversal latch.
When you reassemble the gearbox, put the anti reversal latch in and test the bevel gear movement to make sure it's working before you put everything else together. Quote:

So I opened up the the spring and the ARL engages (I think?) properly now. It sounds a lot like it did before I changed the spring, but now it's double feeding BBs. It's not cycling twice (Well it does but that's a different issue that I've talked to someone about) but 2 BB's are coming out every other shot, if not every shot. The gun is shooting softer than before I swapped the spring so either its the spring or something else now.
I just wanted to get some ideas here before I take it in to get checked out by someone I know |

That would be related to your nozzle, tappet plate and hopup unit/rubber, it is probably overcycling which means ur nozzle/tappet plate is letting an extra bb every now and then (possible fixes if that is an issue is ab mosfet, stronger spring, stronger motor, weaker battery).

Is your hop up on? I've always thought of double feeding as hop up related and not gearbox related.

kaiu: I'll try putting in the original spring and see if that fixes it.
pesto: yeah its on, I was playing around with it and still not change Still fires a double every other shot or so and I had just opened it up again to play with tappet plate. still nothing |

How many anti reversal slots does your bevel gear? It's possible that you're getting overspin every other shot and your anti reversal latch is not working soon enoqugh.
