I've been waiting on this thing. Are you going to be stocking it? If so, for how much?

IIRC the price straight from TRI (distributor Monda) varies from about $500 to $800 USD depending on the variant...

Too bad the use of mobile (veh mounted) and base stations are not legal on the FRS/GMRS bands in Canada. Not like the radios we have been using are legal, but these ones are just fucking out to lunch.

Impressive nonetheless, at least I now know there is a whip antenna for our radios in existence now... I have been looking for one forever.

Any luck on a programing cable or a reasonable programing guide for their Harris copy?

Pretty cool but it's just a heavy ass line-of-sight radio with a higher output isn't it? Some kind of BLOS means would be awesome...like them new Panther VSATs.

BLOS would be beyond useless in airsoft (huehue, pun). The 4W radios paired with a decent antenna are more than enough for us.

I don't think any fields that would requier BLOS exist, if they do though - tell me where, please!

Berget, Blacksheep, some Lion Claws with distant FRAGOs, etc. Almost any OP in mountainous terrain especially if the AO spans a peak or crest. There are many throughout the world but I am not too sure about any in Canada.

We have a few out West. But honestly I think these guys are thinking of that being handy in outside of airsoft roles.

That way you don't have a bunch of radios to manage; acamping radio, a travel radio, and an airsoft radio.

Or maybe you do do have a bunch (or quiver); if you can curate them artisanally.

I should have specified that my comment referred to Canadian fields. I have tested my radios (4W) out to just past 4KM in dense forest, which is very close to the average of 5KM propagation limit for LOS at 2 meters elevation.
That should be more than enough for any airsoft field in Canada.
If you feel the need to go further, set up a mast at each end.
Further still? Get your cell phone out. Can't do much else without an Amateur Radio licence and a free channel.

Using the 4W radios where we are only supposed to use 0.5W and 2W is starting to get noticed, using even more power will definitely start to turn some heads at IC, especially when some of those guys are on these forums.

If they are interested in telephony outside of airsoft, they should get their Amateur Radio licence and fiddle around there - ish gud.
Tramping around FRS/GMRS with out to lunch power ratings is not they way to do it.
