WE AK PMC gbbr and the VFC H&K416 gbbr and other noob questions
Question 1:
I was wondering, is this PMC AK an AKM or a AK-74. It seems im getting conflicting reports when I try to research it. Some stores classify it as a 74, some as a 47, some as a AKM. Question 2: Im looking to get into airsoft and the WE AK PMC gbbr and VFC H&K416 gbbr are the ones that really caught my eye. From the research iv done iv been able to gather that the AK is pretty decent but with weak internals (which from what I understand are replaceable), and the HK is great but has a lower accuracy and is a bit pricy. Can anyone give me some advice in helping me choose with which gun I should go with between these two? Question 3 Is it possible to shorten the barrel length on this HK416 from 14inches to 10inches? I remember hearing something about having the ability to do that with this model, but I need to confirm it. Thanks |

WE PMC AK would be modeled after an AKM of some sort, the 7.62 mags and slant flash hider gives it away. The AK74 shoots 5.45 and uses the plastic 5.45 mags, has a different flash hider, and various other minor differences. Though for the sake of airsoft they're pretty much the same sort of looks. Use 5.45 mags and swap the flash hider and you can call it an AK74 and most people won't be able to tell the difference.
As for the rest, someone else can probably give you the answers or you could take a look on the gasgun forums, lots of good info there.

Just tossing it out there - the gas block is the easiest way for me to identify 47-style vs 74-style, so you'd have to swap that, too.

I would actually prefer if it was based off the AKM. There is something interesting in having a contrast between a rugged old school 47 and modern optics, grips, stocks ect ect.

Honestly, most people fail to realize an AKM is not an AK47. They're two different models and what most people would call an AK47 is in reality an AKM, AK-"Modernized", not an "old school 47".
Heck I don't think I've seen a correct AK47 in any movie, tv show, or video game as of yet; they've all been AKM's. Minor rant but if you're into AK's then it's a difference you'd know lol. Oh and just remembered, for (3), yes you can. There's a number of aftermarket steel barrels available for the 416 in 10-10.5" and an adjustable barrel length kit as well.

I thought about it, and I think im going to go with the AK. I found a good price for it at torontoairsoft.ca
I live in Vancouver, would there be a problem if I ordered from them and they shipped here from Ontario, or it ok to be shipped from anywhere in Canada? |

I just bought the AK from torontoairsoft, I picked it up from their walk in shop. From what I remember anything over a certain price has free shipping canada wide, says right on their site. Also, one thing I noticed right away is that the mags are kinda crappy.. the first 2 they tried to give me were leaking gas and the one I ended up buying fails to fire randomly.. (I bought 2 and one is working fine). Other than that, it's a nice solid gun.

willing to perform services in a dark alley that may or may not leave you satisfied for a title. GFE = 1, looks = 2, BBFS for an extra $50.

There is a little flappy paddle on the back of the WE-Series AK mags and you have to flick it down every time you load it for it to cycle and have a dead mans trigger on the last shot. It was something that confused me when I first got mine, I thought my mags were broken. The Manuel is written in Chinese and didn't explain this well enough with pictures.

Pardon the the question for something that might be obvious, but what's a dead man's trigger?

when you pull the trigger and you hear click, instead of bang. ARs lock back as do most pistols but the WE-AK series go "click" to simulate the hammer dropping on an empty chamber.

Have you considered the GHK AK's?

Hey, can someone explain to me how the mag for this gun works? When the switch is flipped up it does not fire, just clicks one time and that's it.. when it's down, it shoots but keeps shooting even the mag is empty. Is it suppose to be like that or did I just get some faulty mags?

I wanted to give you guys a quick update. I bought the AK PMC from Toronto airsoft, and I got it with a grip and a one point sling.
The gun itself...we'll let me put it this way; When you shoot it, it feels like an industrial powerhouse manufactured in a Soviet factory that was fueled purely the ability to consume enough vodka to kill a small horse. Basically I LOVE IT! It kicks like a mule and it's LOUD as hell. I also just ordered the RA Tech Steel trigger set for it that should come in any day now. Still getting used to loading ak magazines though. Last edited by m0nolith; April 13th, 2014 at 18:33.. |
