Why use QD Swivels?
Switched over to using a 2-Point sling, and enjoy it over a 1-point.
The rear point is anchored at the end plate using a Dytac Double Way Sling Plate. The front point is anchored to the rail using a knock-off VTAC Lamb Universal Sling Attachment (sling threaded through the sling loop). From some searching online, it appears to me that using QD swivels is very popular. For my set-up (with the rear point threaded into the plate), can anyone see any advantage of using a QD swivel up front? Last edited by Pointy; February 17th, 2014 at 02:27.. |

It's easier to get out of sometimes (when prone, for example). If the sling snags on any pouches or part or your rig and you don't want to fumble around trying to get it free.
The other reason they're useful is if you have multiple attachment points and you want to reconfigure how you're carrying the the gun (not unlike how you can reconfigure an MS2/MS3 sling).

If the sling have QD already... Then you don't really need a QD swivel that much.
Most of new slings are QD anyway.

I used qd mounts but found they kept releasing so I switched over to mash hooks. Take a litte longer to release but once you get the hang of it it's almost just as fast.

Main reason I like QD's on my rifles, is taking off the slings when I put them in the safe.
It's much easier to remove the sling with QD or similar than undoing any ladder locks etc. |

Are you using Genuine QD or the knockoffs? Fake QD sockets and attachment points are really hit and miss for getting the job done

Thinking of replacing the knock-off VTAC Lamb Universal Sling Attachment with one of the following (for a smaller and lower profile rail attachment);
Blue Force Gear Rail Mounted Fixed Loop (RMFL) Gear Sector Rail Mount 1" Loop Gear Sector Rail Mount QD Socket Troy Industries M1913 Mount Troy Industries Combo Mount Leaning towards the Blue Force Gear, the Troy M1913 mounts or the Troy Combo Mount. The Combo mount would give me two means for sling attachment. Any thoughts on the attachments? Any other ideas? Last edited by Pointy; February 17th, 2014 at 21:58.. |

I thought about buying those same mounts at one point, and in the end I tried the knockoff and didnt like the function of the web/QD combination
In the end i went with a dedicated QD cup/socket I own the Daniel defense and Troy Industries QD The Troy is slightly smaller and slightly lower profile. |

QD Swivels can be noisy and even quality ones can fail. Had it happen right at the start of a game once.
I use an MS3 sling (or my MS2) and have paracord loops tied onto the rifle to attach a sling. |

@ J-Man19;
Where-ohh-where did you find that specific sling (Assuming it's DD and not AOR1- Saw the AOR1 ones go for upwards of $350.00 on E-bay)
