For target practice, an airgun (lead pellet) is way more suitable than an airsoft gun (6mm plastic BB).

Yeah it is but I enjoy how cheap airsoft pellets are and I'd rather use an a soft gun.

Open bolt WE M4 CQBR is the definitive target shooting gun. And it's within your price range.

Best target shooting gun for 400-500? I don't know but the following from my understanding are solid contenders.
Benjamin Discovery and Trail NP, Crosman 760 and Nitro Venom, Daisy Powerline 953, Gamo Dynamax, Gamo Silent Stalker, IZH 60/61. All well within your budget. I also highly recommend match grade wadcutters. If you wanted to spend a bit more ($2000+) I believe Anschutz is one of the top brands as are Hammerli, Walther, and Air Arms.

I'd recommend a gas blowback rifle like a KJ or WE if you're never planning to shoot anyone.
Use high quality and heavy ammo like .30 or .36 normal airsoft guns are very limited in reliability at higher FPS which would allow you to use heavier and therefore more accurate rounds. GBBR's are just easier to work with, less complicated, less worries. |
