Any idea what type of belt this is? I picked it up at my local army surplus store and I can't seem to find out what type of belt it is . It's too wide to be a tactical belt, so I'm thinking it's some sort of molle belt, but there's no molle webbing.

Well that would explain all the weird plastic hook pouches they had above the belts... Thanks

Canadian 82 Pattern web belt. the pouches are still available in most Canadian surplus shops. The modular system worked well and you could vary your load out according to your mission. But the CF never gave you enough pouches or Liberty to do that lol.

I loved my 82 webbing for wearing under my ghillie suit. The pouches where not practical though. You needed 2 hands to close them. The modular systeme was kinda hard to manage. I broke many plastic tabs.

I wish Clothe the Soldier has just gone with an updated 82 pattern webbing (cadpat, molle, standard fastex buckles etc) instead of the tacvest...

Ah! that's what they look like when fully assembled. I've got to get back to that surplus store and pick myself up a few pouches!

Yep just be sure to conduct a sniff check. If its smells like putrid vomit its the real deal. lol
Sniff and look for the ones with the least odour. Then Google washing instructions.

that's some sound advice there! though if I remember correctly most of them just smell like old leather and one or two smelled of mildew.

I don't like where that second guy's hand is headed, and the first guy has his rifle slung. The both look slack and idle.

Well, I bought the shoulder straps (apparently the military cuts off the straps before re selling them for some reason so I was lucky enough to find one at the second place I went) and an admin pouch thing (I'm going to use it as a dump pouch) and a singe mag pouch which holds 2 AK mags pretty well (although the pouch doesn't close all the way). And as a bonus, none of the gear smells because the guy in the store had already washed it.

Its a fantastic webbing system, I love mine and even have the shovel carrier lol. Bout the only thing I still need/want in order to finish rebuilding mine is the damn compass case/pouch. I've seen em but finding em is a nightmare

Here's a bit of a breakdow/guide:
