My Finalized Base Loadout (KA P90 & Elite Force 1911 TAC)
After doing a lot of research, deciding what I wanted in a gun, my price range, etc I finally came up with this finalized loadout for my base kit. Being much more experienced than I, I was hoping you could provide some final feedback before I start dropping the dough.
In the four-man fireteam I'm part of, we sat down and decided that, as a unit, we should run the same base platform as our main arm so that we can interchange equipment (notably, lending mags mid-firefight) if necessary. We wanted something compact and mobile, for CQB, while still wanting the accuracy and range of a rifle for outdoor gaming. We eventually agreed on the P90. Quote:

Worse decision ever. Good luck having a nice and compatible loadout for the outdoors for your P90 mags. 95% of the people will probably agree that the P90 is the worse gun to be mixed indoors and outdoors. Not to mention the ergonomy; if you have big hands you're fucked, the grip itself is shit, the maintenance on one is a nightmare, mags are problemsome, ect ect.
I think you should read more on the forums about what guns to get as a beginner.

Just say no to a P90... If you want interchangeability get a Stanag rig. It doesn't have to be M4's how about Some Scar-l's? Tavors, L-86's, Famas's they all take the same mags and you can all still be gucci and have your own unique set up if want.

There's a reason AR-15 carbines have been the hotness for the last few years. Magazine commonality is high, accessories and parts are extremely varied and due to the modular construction of the rifle it can be drastically altered to fit the user. The P90 fills none of these.
Rethink your choice, please. Ditch the sidearm if it means you get a better primary- Every time I've had to pull my sidearm, it's been accompanied with terrified wishes that my primary was in my hands instead. Last edited by MaybeStopCalling; August 10th, 2013 at 01:59.. |

They do if you mod the mags, basically you just need to cut at a standard STANAG mag and get it to fit into the FAMAS.

It's not like I haven't held a P90 in my own hands. My buddy has a KA P90 and let me dick around with it; I absolutely love it.
As far as the range goes, I'll put in an extended inner barrel and cover it up with a suppressor like another guy I've seen do it. For customization, the only thing I want on it is a red dot sight, and to be able to quick swap the springs. I know about the mag issues; however to my understanding it's mostly the highcaps that have most of the issues? Or do the midcaps have feeding issues too? (both of my buddies who have P90's haven't had any mag issues other than a few dry shots every time a new mag is inserted) The ergonomics are fine; in fact, at first I wasn't sold on it until I held one in my own hands. I instantly fell in love with it. Other than that, I don't quite understand what you're telling me, other than you just don't like 'em. Elaborate? As far as my secondary weapon, I wasn't dead-set on the Elite Force 1911 in particular, it just looked like a nice fit. My other choice is a KWC 1911 (CO2), should I go for that instead? Or should I just go for a propane/GG 1911? I don't mean to sound argumentative guys, I'm just trying to understand your reasonings. (Also, to the mod who cleaned up the thread, thank you)

I know a guy who has run a p90 for the last 6 years outdoors. It's essentially a trimmed down LMG, runs like a beast. Dude mows down tons of guys, and carries 10 mags on him in drop leg and crossdraw holsters. 500 rounds at realcap, one mag = 1 or more kills. They shoot straight, are reliable, accurate and are sturdy.
Personally, I can't stand 'em. I don't like the way they feel, I can't really shoulder them or aim them especially well. But to those who like 'em, they LOVE 'em. Are you one of that crowd? While cross-mag compatibility is awesome, it's not end-all be-all. 1911 you can't go wrong with, ergonomically. Points naturally, and if it's a decent gun, will hit what you point it at. In the end, it's up to you. P90 has a long list of pros, but that's if you enjoy the way it feels in your hands. The cons are obvious, and already listed. Try one out if you can, see if it'll fit you. Then it's a matter of finding ways to store the mags, which can take some doing, though the fact that they are more popular these days helps.

BTW No one's mentioned it yet but if you can't find P90 specific mags pouches UMP pouches will work in a pinch. As far as the kit goes, I don't really care for P90's but like people say "ride your own ride".
I'd also say to shy away from Elite Force unless you're using them more as show pieces than wanting to use them a lot. Personally I rarely use my sidearm and it's used more as a showpiece than anything. That said my play style may be totally different from other people's and you may find yourself using your pistol a lot more than I do. Maybe look at getting a KJW 1911 if you can afford it.

Right now I'm also looking at the KJW and KWC CO2 1911's as well.

OP: You list an MP5 in your sig line. What's wrong with those? Solid guns, mags fit into a variety of pouches, easily setup for in/out door play...mags are cheaper, easier to locate, parts/accessories common. That to me would be a more sensible choice than a p90.
Definitely look into KJW 1911 Hi-capa (who doesn't want more capacity?) CO2 pistols. Nice weight, great kick, and perfect for a secondary. |
