"jpriebe" a Scammer?

Heres the story. On July 7th, 2013 i saw "jpriebe" post a thread selling a TM 4.3 HiCapa. It was a gun i was looking for and fit my budget. After ironing out the details such as condition, price, etc. I went forward and EMT him the money and he promised to ship out my gun the following day (July 8th, 2013). Right after he collected the money from my EMT he vanished and hasnt been back on since.

I have not received my gun nor heard anything from him and judging by his profile he has not logged back on since July 7th, 2013.

If any fellow ASC members know who he is or have any suggestions of what i should do from here please let me know.

Man that sucks, I usually never buy any guns from people that don't live around me because I like to meet the person face to face. How much did you give him?

I sent him 140 its not much but still money and the feeling that there are scammers on ASC is unsettling. Does noone know that guy?

are you sure that he has received the EMT. I had $500 locked up for a few days. I thought my friend accepted but I mistyped

Yes for sure he has received the money, i confirmed it with my bank already. Right after the money cleared he dipped and hasnt been back on forum since. The money cleared on July 7th, 2013.

file a negative feedback and pm admin on this to get his Av'ed suspended. If that doesn't do. file a report with RCMP's RECOIL.

That sucks, sorry to hear that.

From the looks of it it does indeed sound like a scam.

I prefer paypal, I think it's the safest way, unless they have feedback to support their reputation.

Take precaution when buying from someone across the country. Before finishing the deal, ask for full name, phone number and address just in case you need to contact them. Tell them it's for precaution and nothing else. Call and confirm the phone number too. If the sale post is legit, they shouldn't have a problem giving you all those info, as they will need yours to ship the items. There's way too many scam deals lately and it's giving ASC's sales thread and bad image. More people will stay away from buying from here if this keeps up.

His last online activity was July 7 and he had a 100% Trade Rating up until then.

Perhaps there is a legitimate reason why he has not shipped or contacted you.

Maybe contact Drake or another Moderator and explain the details. Make sure you have the original thread with the advertisement, copies of the EMT, both sent and received as well as any correspondence to the seller to substantiate your claim.

I contacted him for the gun too, he replied something along the lines of "has been sold thanks for the interest".
Please note this was awhile back when he first posted the ad.

Yes i have all records of emt and also all pm correspondances saved incase that information is required. To be honest ASC is a great forum filled with very respectable members. My feedback will prove that i have met many of them. I hope this problem gets resolved and that we can avoid stuff like this from future occurances to other fellow members.
