My first plate carrier/chest rig!!
Hi I'm looking for a cheap ACU plate carrier and found a few on Amazon/eBay.
Which of the 3 would be the best? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/171072108282 http://www.ebay.ca/itm/271229489595 Amazon.com: MOLLE Amphibious Tactical Vest - ACU Digital Camo: Everything Else Does anyone know if I can even buy the eBay ones because it says It may not be able to ship to CA. Or if you have any better recommended plate carriers/chest rigs under $80, let me know! Thanks Last edited by daveyster; July 18th, 2013 at 03:18.. |

Really depends what you are going to put on it, and what you are going to use it for.
Don't go for cheapo chinese made rigs like that, If I may suggest, go something that's worth the money. If you can spend at least 20 Dollars more, Go for a SORD Plate Hanger. If not, Flyye have a few options for your spending mark. http://www.shootercbgear.com/index.php?cPath=22_50_51 - Flyye http://www.shootercbgear.com/index.php?cPath=22_121_120 - TMC is alright for the prices. But you get what you pay for. Amazon.com: Condor Outdoor Airsoft 7 Pocket Chest Rig ACU Camo: Sports & Outdoors - Condor is cheap, alright for its prices. If you want something that will last, think about spending a bit more money. In the end its the users decision on what will do him best. Last edited by MikeRomeo; July 18th, 2013 at 04:38.. |

I really like ones that will cover the front and back like a bullet-proof vest kind of style. Are there any Canadian websites that sell cheap plate carriers/chest rigs? |

ARPAT is under export ban in the states, so it's going to be tough getting real gear, and the difference between the real gear and the fake stuff is like wearing a white bedsheet or a grey bedsheet outdoors and in CQB.
I'd suggest buying ranger green/smoke green/foliage green kit, especially since most people grow out of ARPAT, and then you don't have to spend $700 on new gear! |

Would black or tan look bad?
http://airsoftdepot.ca/catalog/produ...oducts_id=1394 This one is 600D Nylon, so I don't think it's that good. Last edited by daveyster; July 18th, 2013 at 11:07.. |

If you're going for a CQB only set up, then okay, black wouldn't be so bad. However if you are planning on attending outdoor games, a black PC would not be such a good idea. You will stick out like a sore thumb. Tan IMO would be alright with ACU.

Tan and black look terrible on a camo that has no tan or black in it

I can't find any foliage green, ranger green or smoke green coloured plate carriers for under $80.

You get what you pay for in gear. If you are spending little amounts on gear you are going to get little quality. I'm not saying to go and buy a Crye JPC for $250, but there are better options. $150 is a good ball park for a good quality rig.
Here's another thought: ditch the ARPAT stuff. Hardly anybody uses it and the US military is phasing it out for a reason.

Well fake ARPAT matches fake ARPAT I guess, but in the sun they look like they got bleached white
And I know everyone and their dog calls it "ACU" but "Army Combat Uniform" is not a type of camo. If you want to stay in that budget and still look good, you may want to change camo to something that suits tan or olive drab gear |

If I may, coyote brown is a good colour compromise that works well with many cam patterns.
Also, do realize that you really get what you pay for with load bearing equipment and combats. The cheap stuff will not last and you will be replacing stuff frequently. The knock-off combats and LBE fade and tear very easily and are generally disappointing. It costs a lot of money to be cheap! ACU denotes the style and cut of combat clothing, not the cam pattern. For example, Propper ACU combats may be purchased in multicam or ATACS- AU/FG. I mention Propper combats because IMHO they are the only brand worth buying (I've wasted too much money on cheap combats over the years and have learned this lesson the hard way). |
