Looking for some advice on a decent com set up.
I am interested in finding a decent headphone-style / mic setup that may attach to a tactical helmet which would also provide ear protection. This may be tricky as you still need to hear what's going on in your environment. Also, need advice on where to buy the radio(s) which would work with the mic/speaker setup. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks ![]() |

MSA Sordin Supremes, PTT and your chosen radio. I prefer the Wouxun due to easy programming. Also look at similar styles from TCI and Peltor. These set ups aren't cheap (400+ on average) but are worth every penny for the digital sound reproduction, clarity of comms and reliability.

^ This. Gamed mine for the first time today, couldn't be happier. If you keep an eye out for deals in the classifieds, they pop up every once in a while.

Liberator IIs + Rhino 650 GPS
![]() The Liberator IIs are same core system as the Sordins. The Rhino unit doubles as a walkie talkie and a GPS both orients yourself and can broadcast your location to other teammates with the Garmin system. ![]()

I use this
![]() Plus this on top when I require hear protection. ![]() They mate perfecly and provide good protection. Outside, I don't use hearing protection, unless I'm in an urban setup with loud pyro. Using earpro in woodead erea is not recommanded. It's hot (unbarable sometime) and you don't hear well enough. For inside it's perfect.

How are those for your hearing though? they seems you'd be deaf to what's going on around you?

Electronic hearing protection will have a built in microphone and speaker system.
One of the reasons I went with the liberators is because they have two mics so you get stereo sound, with an option to amplify their sensetivity. It's quite neat, you hear every rustle, but the system won't allow any normally loud sound (yelling) to over-amplify. Those units also: -relay in communications from whatever radio you plug in -transmit via the boom mic (none of that sleepy-dove stuff where you tuck your face into your shoulder) -provide hearing protection (not a big deal for airsoft, but real steel its a necessity as far as I'm concerned)

Any options that aren't over the ear? I sweat like a madman and can only use in-ear acoustic tubes or an open shoulder mic

-MSA Sordin Supreme, Gel ear cups are cool to.
-RS PTT to radio of your choice (Get a good one, PX-888, Wuxon, Motorola) -I have a Motorola XTS2500 -TCI Mast kit Have you tried a Real Bowman, or a cobra style headset?

The Bowman's are a real PITA. Other than the PTT button and the boom mic I hate them. Too many things to put on. Hat/Helmet, goggles, headset. Makes it difficult to simply take a hat off and wipe sweat.
![]() Never like the cobra style ones either. I was thinking more along the lines of options that allow hearing protection but are in-ear. Aside from continuing to use acoustic tubes, I might splurge one day and get a Pryme BT unit. |

Coach your right I used to use the Bowman's before but all the goggle/mask/Bowman straps are just too much on your head. My comms setup is RS MSA sordin/wouxun radio. Coach and thanks again for helping me when I first got my radio, great guy!
Does anyone on the forum use or know if the TRI PRC-152 Multiband Radio and RS MSA Sordins work together without mods? Last edited by NVC; June 10th, 2013 at 12:36.. |

Coach I'm running a Nacre QuietPro and it works pretty well. I've only used it in an urban setting but it's in ear and as good as my old Sordins in terms of protection and amplification. I got them because like you I worried about boiling in the summer heat.
Note I do worry about the earbud wires getting snagged on branches and other shit in a forest environment, haven't tested them in that type of place yet. |

The other being that even a whisper brodcasts well so you can communicate without letting the enemy know where you are. I used one that armyissue sold back in the day. It was some cheapo stuff. It was small and light but only had the finger ptt. The one i just grabbed to go with my new puxing 888 is great so far. It doesnt pic up s really quiet whisper but still picks up very low talking and loud whisper if it is positiond well on the neck. Prety cheap comes with a built in ptt and an additional finger ptt (handy when sniping as i can wear it like a ring so i dont have to movs my arm to broadcast. Sound quality is good. It seems sturdy and held up fine in light rain http://airsoftdepot.ca/catalog/produ...oducts_id=2000 ![]() The finger ptt plugs into the plug near the large ptt and had a long wire so you can run it down a sleve or whatever. Its available with most popular plugs that go into the other plug further from the large ptt (kenwood/puxing moto ect.)
