Amateur Camo Test (Lots of pics)

So the product of me becoming bored ended up becoming a camouflage test. I've test four patterns; US M81 Woodland tunic (issue), Flecktarn smock (issue), Cadpat pants (issue), and the old Olive drab pants (issue).

This is by no means a professional test!
Area 1

Area 2: Two different distances

Area 3: 2 camo's in each pic, two distances

I'll let you guys form the conclusions! Personally, I was surprised at Flecktarn; I didn't expect it to perform well as it doesn't have a large amount of green, but the spot pattern really began to fool the eye, similar to digital. Cadpat performed greatly, even in environments that weren't pure green. M81 woodland really needs distance to make it work effectively, as it was desgined to be effective at 100 yards and further, and these distances are negligible in airsoft even if you can see the person. OD didn't do bad overall, for how simple it is, it's definitely not something to forget about. Overall, the doted/digital camo's would prove most effective in fooling the eye and they can work at close range, and at a distance which gives them a large advantage over "analog" camo's.

It is interesting to see how the different patterns work. I have used flecktern for about the last 5 years and it has worked well in our area (Barrie). Just bought some Tibetian Camo for my son and it is wicked for spring, much like flecktern but even more brown, but blends in well with the browns and Greys before the new growth gets going. There is some that makes you wonder why it was made. I have some Rodisian Camo that has dull reds in it (bought for cqb at a paint ball field), now it would not work well here but it must be okay in it,s home environment. Almost to much to chose from. Lots of weird Camo out there for sure. The German WWll camps are interesting, Pdot, and splinter designs.

I have to agree, it's interesting how they work. The German WW2 stuff may be incredibly old, but it still works which proves the effectivness of it. The dot patterns have been changed to flecktarn variants which have been adopted by Germany, Russia, and several more countries. The Swedish have a splinter designed camo and it also performs very well.

The old Finnish stuff has a pinkish red in it if my memory is correct and I thought it was pretty stupid until I seen pics of it in use, and it worked great.

I'm looking to get a better camera to take more pics as I have a few more places in mind to test at so we'll see if any of the results change!

The philipines camo is a woodlands variant but it has purple in it.

Which russian camo do you have that has red in it? If it is the Pink VSR(Which is rare), i would love to see a picture of it.

No no not Russian, Rhodesian. Rhodisia is located in central Africa. i would guess the camo works well there. I got it because I didn't care if I got paint on it when doing cqb at paint ball fields. I'd like to get hold of some Italian vegitato (I know thats not spelled right), it looks like it might do ok here for summer camo. I do have a WWll Denision jump smock and it works very well and warm as well.

Looking at those pics, all I can think is A-Tacs. It's supposedly an arid camo, but you hug a birch tree in the stuff and you are invisible.

Either the Au or Fg would work in my opinion. Au, like you said is supposedly arid, but I have seen in work in a forest/woodland environment. If I can dig up the pics again, I'll post them. It plays off the light and it's like it takes on the surrounding colours, pretty neat honestly.

EDIT: Here is the link showing Atacs Au in a woodland environment
