Help with properly setting the trigger in the gearbox

Hey fellow airsofters,

It's my first time changing spring on a v2 gearbox, and i was able to do it all accordingly. This is on a stock G&P LMT TR. However, the problem came when i tried to close the gearbox.

The trigger popped out of its place, and it wont stay in the gearbox.

1) Is it normal for the trigger to be popping out of the bottom half of the gearbox if its not held in place by hand? (ie. if i take my finger off the trigger, its gonna fly out)

The instruction video i saw on youtube, had the trigger in place without holding on to it.

2) From the picture attached below, could someone tell me where should the tip of the trigger spring (circled in RED) be fitting into? Right now, if i install it, its sitting on the red plastic (YELLOW arrow) and that is as far as it will reach. I dont think its correct, coz the spring will pop out as mentioned in 1). Is the proper fit at the BLUE arrow position? If so, the spring seems too short to reach the blue arrow.

Any suggestions or pointing me to a diagram/instruction video on this topic would be appreciated!

Your picture didn't work but the trigger popping out of a V2 is normal.

Either you work the spring so it stays in place for a couple seconds while you close the box or you hold it in place when you close it up.

Yes sometimes it feels like you need 2 extra hands.

The picture is working for me... anyways, good to know that i didnt mess something up to cause the trigger to pop out. Thanks!

Bow if someone can help me confirm where the one end of the spring tip on the trigger should go, then i can close the gearbox up properly.

The trigger is one of the PITA parts in a gearbox, consider yourself lucky it's not a V3, those are even harder to keep in place.

The first times you reassemble a gearbox it is normal to have this kind of thing happen, sometimes you get to place the trigger in a manner it won't pop out. Otherwise you need to hold the trigger and the spring with a hand while placing the other half of the shell close enought so they don't pop off.

The spring does go where you point out, according to it's length. You might be able to stuck it between the trigger's electric plate and the shell it you can.

EDIT: I had to pop the image in a new window to view it

Thanks for the insight guys. I'll get a 2nd pair of hands to help me try to put the gearbox back tonight, and post any follow-ups if needed.

I have to say, as a newbie, this forum have been very welcoming and helpful over the past few months with all my issues and questions. Thanks again to everyone in this awesome community!

There's usually a hole in the trigger for the left side of the spring to go into. I super glue that in. Makes it super easy

that's a great idea! I will try to glue it in place as well.
