CYMA FAMAS Cylinder

Hi everyone,

As you may or may not remember, a long time back, I had an explosion in my Gearbox. As such, many parts became damaged, including the Cylinder.

I have heard from some people that it uses a standard Type 0 cylinder, and from others that it uses a V7 cylinder, which, according to my research, is 2mm longer than a standard T0.

Does anybody know what cylinder the Cybergun/CYMA FAMAS uses? I know they modernized their gearbox, but I'm not sure about the cylinder. I took some measurements, and the stock cylinder is approx. 74mm long. Does anybody have a Type 0 they can compare dimensions to with this?

Also, does anyone know if the Pistons are of the standard size?

I'm pretty sure they use V2/3 Pistons, but I don't know completely.

one on the bench is 72mm long, 1" od 0.035" wall thickness. if you have access to a lathe and some tubing you can make one.

see if you can source something local like this >> http://www.mcmaster.com/#8978K212 << and make one. you can cut that with a miter saw [power one with carbide blade for best results] and make one. mcmaster is a great place to source stuff, but shipping/duties sucks

The thing is, I was just wondering if there was actually a difference between these, as I thought Cylinder dimensions were standardized. I wasn't aware that the T7 Cylinder was longer.

Can anyone with experience working with M14s and the V7 gearbox tell me the dimensions of a Type 7 cylinder?

Hey there,
here is the list of pieces for the Cybergun Famas:

- Spring Guide= compatible V3
- Spring = whatever you want
- Cylinder = compatible V7
- Cylinder head = compatible V7 (don't be cheap on this one, i had some issues with the Guarder one)
- Piston = compatible piston standard GB V1, V2, V3
- Piston head = compatible piston head standard GB V1, V2, V3
- Tappet plate = ****** to find ****** specific part
- Nozzle = Prometheus does a very good Nozzle for the TM famas (you can find it on ehobby)
- Bushings = standards 6 mm
- Gears = compatibles V7
- Motor = compatible EG1000 Marui

Are you sure that the Motor is an Eg1000, though? I'm assuming from the other parts that this is the CG/CYMA one, correct?

Also, do you know where I can get a V7 Cylinder? I would also assume that the V7 is, in fact, an 'M14 Cylinder', correct?

V7 is M14 cylinder.

The EG1000 refers to the standard "flat" motor. Check the shaft lenght, it can be long (with a bushing and guide) or short (almost on the motor can).

Some mid-lenght motors exist, but only the PSG-1 uses it.

EG1000 (or EG700) short version is compatible, BUT you have to grind a bit the back of the motor or the gearbox to give a bit more space up to the gear.
It is easier to work on the motor though ^__^

Which would you recommend: the Guarder, or the Magic Box?

MB seems to be a decent brand from what I heard, but the Guarder is tried, true, and cheaper.
