Need Some Goggle Help: Smith or ESS

Looking to purchase a pair of googles with a fan (I've got fogging issues).
Have done all the research I can online and have narrowed it down to two choices:

Smith
https://elite.smithoptics.com/produc...luxe+Kit/view/

ESS
http://www.esseyepro.com/Profile-Tur...53_detail.html

Just looking for advice in which one I should get from anyone who's tried either or both of them.

Thanks,
Stay Frosty.

Which goggles system are you using now just out of curiousity? My vote is for the ESS turbofans have heard lots of great things about them. Dont know much about the smith OTW tho.

Both are great, I have the ESS turbofans and they can be a bit... finicky. That being said I don't know how the simths fit. I've become a fanboy over the past while for smith optics.

Quite honestly flip a coin either way you're getting some great gear.

I personally would go with ESS just because that's the brand I have experience with. Me and all my friends run ESS goggles, one of them a turbofan as well, and never have issues. They're also very good on fogging if you peel off the the small foam layer on the tops and bottoms.

Fans are a gimmick I find. Ive got a pair of revision goggles (tan) with no fan and a pair of ess with the fan (black). They both seem to be exactly the same. I run fog tech on both and never had issues. Save yourself like 80 bucks and just get a pair of goggles from revision or ess/smith without the fan.

Also, removing the foam layer on top and bottom as stated above really does help fogging problems.

Edit.

I also find the little knob at the top where the fan is housed cause there to be a larger gap between a helmet and the top of the goggles.

I got a used pair of ESS with fan but I never used the fan because I never fogged up and I hated the sound of the fan. I also hated the hard battery pack on the back of my head. I really like to have absolute silence for listening when I'm hunting people. I think fans are a gimmick because theres no way that tiny thing can make a difference.

Gunny, I've got a pair of Revision Desert Locust right now. I also applied opdrops anti-fog and they last for about a half hour and then they start to fog like crazy. I've ripped the foam of the top and bottom and it didn't seem to help.

Are you running them with a helmet? If so, the swivel strap attachment on the Smith might lift it above the ESS. I found my Profile NVGs wouldn't seal completely while worn over your standard airsoft MICH replica, but I have a tiny head/face.

That said, I have no experience with the Smith and have nothing but great things to say about ESS and their customer service (besides the Profile NVGs I have the ICE-Naro, and Advancer V-12s).

I'm running a ball cap right now but I do plan on adding a helmet to my gear at some point in the future.

The ops gear anti fog doesn't work as good as fogtech Ive found.

Also, a big problem is people WIPE the lenses...which removes the fogtech. Don't touch your lenses at all...if there is some condensation shake your head and let it drip out the bottom...which is where you riped the foam off.

But hey, if you absolutely think you need a fan go for it. And as David said.... the fan will be quiet..as in people wont be able to hear it, but you certainly will hear the damn thing vibrating through your head gear.... just think of constantly having a mosquito buzzing beside your ear.

I'm a Revision fan boy so If you haven't checked out Revision, do so.

edit - derrrrp, ignore this. Have you try Revision's fog wipes?

@Stayfrosty - my normal lenses that came with my Desert Locusts fogged like a bitch but the thermal replacement seems to be doin the trick. Also put some OP Drop anti fog on as well.
