KSC G19 mags worn out? *SOLVED*
have you experienced worn magazines sitting lower in the gun because of using steel magcatches? had i known the steel catch would wear out both my magazines in 2 years, i would have stayed with plastic magcatches and replacing those instead of expensive mags.
anyway my mags are sitting lower and a lot of gas is wasted and the blowback is weak- unless i press the mag from below. and the wear of the magazines is actually almost unnoticable by the look of the eye. im not sure if it is even half a millimeter. which makes it really weird. If you're having that issue, you can try putting some mag seal shims under your rubber gas lip to boost up the height.
I haven't had this issue and I've been using KSC G19s for the past 10 years. |

I have 6-7 KSC/KWA Glock series and all have the metal mag catch. Have never had this issue with any of them,my oldest G19 has been running this way for 6 years??? Do you have a pic of the area on the mag by chance?

just get a new mag catch.
or you see that ridge whhere the mag catch latches on the mag? you can pack with something to create the lift you're looking for. pften times the metal mag catch will wear to top part down.

the catch doesnt show any wear by the look, just some scraped off color, no dent or cavity that i could identify. also it is steel. the mags however seem to be of some type softer metal.
i will try to take some pictures by the start of the new week. hopefully i could test with some new mags to get more clarity to the issue. |

I actually have sort of the same problem too. I still have a plastic mag catch however. It seems that about 2 out of my 5 mags will not lock back when they're empty (whether by pulling the slide back manually or by shooting). If I push them up a bit, they will lock perfectly. I cannot see any differences between the mags when comparing them side-by-side however.

With the plastic mag catch, thats your issue. Just replace it with a metal one. Other than that I just put a short wrap of tape at the base of the mag so it doesent just drop outa the gun,so it helps keep all my mags snug as well there easy to see if you drop them (I use white & yellow tape). You'll have to play with the tape alittle bit as if you have too much,it'll be a bi*ch to take in & out. I have about 12 mag's and don't have any of these issue's anymore with any of them after installing the metal mag catch (Guarder) if you have one of the other brand catch then I can't speak about them as I'v heard some are made of a softer metal, and that might be the issue it's self.

Nevertheless, I've ordered a Guarder metal mag catch as the plastic one doesn't look like it'll hold up for much longer. Last edited by EdisLeado; June 21st, 2012 at 11:31.. |

The slide not locking back is a different issue(check the nozzel for cracks). But as for the mag dropping down and not get'en a good seal is different. Or the top seal could be shot on 2 of your 5 mags. It's hard to say with out seeing it.

this is as the mag sits without any aid: with aid: how the magcatch has eaten into the mag: this is where the magcatch "catches" the mag: the rubber gasket: maybe you could compare and tell me if this is normal wear. i was also thinking maybe the rubber gasket of the mag has worn lower, but it doesnt look like it. now that i closely looked at all the possible parts causing the trouble... they havent actually worn out that much.. atleast not to give me the problems i am experiencing. I would try some electrical tape on the mag catch on the mag to see if that would help fill that void. Otherwise I guess it's new mags for you, or you can try the shims for the gas seal.

well.. i figured it out. gun is shooting 50 shots on one gas fill.
i had to put some layers of electric tape on the top of the blowback chamber below the slide. for some reason it has worn down a little bit. case closed, solution found Last edited by heikis; July 25th, 2012 at 17:47.. |
