How to take the front sight off an M4?

Hey, I was wondering how I would detach the front sight (the triangular thing attached to the barrel).

Picture: http://www.machinegun.pl/sklep/image...a1commando.jpg

I have a G&P M4A1 if that helps.

Thanks-VM

There're two retaining pins under the triangle sight - where the two posts hold around the barrel. Then there should be a hex nut you have to unscrew that's under the rear post, where the vertical sling mount would/should be. After that, take the handguards off, and you can unscrew the triangle assembly free from the handguard collar - if you so desire. If not, it should slide right off with the handguard collar still attached. Make sure you unscrew the flashhider first, too.

Well, heres an actual picture of it:

I'm having a hard time finding this hex nut you speak of.

Also, how do you take off the handguards?

you can remove the sling loop if need be, but sometimes you can get the allan key past without removal!

Okay, I unscrewed it... is it supposed to come off? (I can't unscrew it enough to take the screw out, the loop is in the way).

Also, how do I take off the handguards?

(yay for Allan key, thanks!)

loosened a little is o.k.
pulling back on the delta ring should let loose the hand guards ( not sure on GP gun ) or just remove the sight tower/collar forwards off the barrel

Theres a metal bar that extends from the metal part (uh.. frame?) through the handguard, to the front sight.

I was wondering if that was normal?

I can pull off half the handguard by pulling down the delta ring.

i think...now correct me if im wrong, that that metal bar is spozed to represent the gas pressure release line or something like that from the real steel gun, in other words, there is a metal bar running through a real m4

How do I unscrew the barrel(The part just after the front sight)? I tried using just my hands and I now have some large blisters there from trying that.

I took off the flashhider just fine :P

Well, I wouldn't remind removing the un-removable metal piece holding in the sling loop.

Anyone have any idea how to remove some thing like that? (The metal is folded over). I tried using pliers but that didn't really do much of anything.

Before you make an expensive mistake, go see an expert...
And why do you want to take that gun apart? Is it broken?

Not telling you this to piss you off, but airsoft guns are better left alone unless there's something broken, or you've seen someone do it in person.
