So, I was wondering who had one in this forum. Reason be is that I would like to see what people have to say about it. I just got one and will be rewiring it to deans soon.
But to the point is that people with a little more experience with it to tell me there thoughts. What should i upgrade on it, anything to expect, and your thoughts on how well of a rifle it is. I am a new to all this so I have not owned any other rifle to compare with it. And also tell me what you have done to your gun to customize it in anyway. |

it's basically the same as the regular ACR. the gearbox is the same (real shame there) and made by Ares. the gearbox shell is not reinforced and also proprietary, so if it cracks/breaks you are SOL (hurry for Ares!).
i like the externals, tho they should have just anodized and dyed the aluminum instead of painting it, and they could have gone without a pot metal trunnion and barrel nut.

If someone finds away to put a standard V3 or V2 gearbox in the PTS externals they would be golden. The PTS externals are extremely nice with more trades than the TSX. I sold mine on fear of might it break, then I was SOL.

well i have been thinking of modeling that new Remington magnesium lower. it can take standard AR pistol grips, so it could use a normal V2 gearbox with that. the Ares ACR gearbox is identical externally to a V2 up to just above the bevel gear. everything past that is V3 specs.
Magnesium is fairly easy to cast too, so i might try to make a model of the lower out of wax, make a casting over it with plaster and melt/burn off the wax, then just melt some magnesium and fill it up.

So internals are good but just bad because of proprietary parts. And you can't switch it out for a gearbox that can take other parts so the gun is useless when the internals go to shit for the most part. So, you pay that big amount for nothing but a incompetent crap box waiting to shit out on you.

Also the fact that the air nozzles on those things are slightly off spec and lead to leakages due to poor air seal between the nozzle and barrel.
