Drug-use at Airsoft Games

I don't know how anyone else feels about this, which is why I made this thread. While attending one of Flagraiders games a few months back, I noticed that a select small group (3-4) Airsofters were smoking pot. Just wondering if anyone else knew about this and how everyone feels about this issue.

Unforunately, I don't know who the players are, nor can I recall the game, but I'm pretty sure it was one of the night games at FR.

Personally, I would say ingesting anything that is going to affect your performance adversely is kind of foolish, but as long as it doesn't make them irresponsible, I don't really care... I would be semi against it, insofar as that people wouldn't think that DRINKING would be fine, so why should doing drugs be?

Drugs, alcohol and any other mind altering substances have no place on the field. Period, no exceptions.

* I was going to make a joke but thought it appropriate to be serious on the question. We don't need to have any accidents, bad judgement calls or police involvement in our games.

Some fields allow after game drinking etc.

It should never be done during a game since you are more likely to do something stupid

Exactly. If you're gonna drink, or whatever, the post game is the time for it.

Okay, that's not funny, even as a joke.

Drug use on the field has no place - if you see anyone imbibing (sp?) in a prohibited substance (being alcohol wear not permitted, or pot) then let the field owner/admin know. Then you have fufilled (sp?) your responisibility as a player, it's up to the field owner/admin to take care of it.

ps. srry about my grammer, a bit knackered at the moment, celebrating etc...

Great... IF (!!!!!) one of those days cops show up and see high people playing airsoft, guess what. "People who dressed up as soldiers and wield what appears to be assault rifles smoke pot" would be the head lines... the whole "responsible player" card would become completely useless.

Very good point. I think any "self altering activities" should be left to the 'after-game parties'.

yes.. actually it was...

anyhoo drugs are drugs.. they are not legal and really dont belong in public much less at an airsoft game.. we have enough problems with legality we dont need people searching for ways to make it worse..

Lets just find out who they were by a process of elimination. 2 years ago at Deadlands a kid was caught and taken out of the game by Wolfpack members.

well theres only been one FR night game recently? Around 1 month or so I believe, was there any before that, that have been in the last few months? I dont think so.

Who all attended? I did myself but dont have a great memory of everyone else who did attend. I know lots of us were smoking cigars. Alot of dumb people sometimes confuse it with marijuana.

Any other info?

I remember a few years back when SD-Unit used to host games at Paintball City, I was talking to own of the owners there and he told me the day before he had to kick out 5 paintballers because they were drinking beer in the parking lot between games. If you want to go out for a drink or two or smoke whatever after a game, that's your choice, but don't do it during a game. It may be fun to you, but you could hurt somebody in a game if your not thinking properly. If it was at FR I would have told somebody that worked there. If cops did show up, Flag Raiders would be taking some heat from it. I've seen cops come by at Wasaga before. Private fields probably don't have to worry about that, but it's still a safety issue. I think this should have been broughten up a few months ago when you noticed it and the game was still fresh in everyones memory.

He was caught by sitting in his car smoking a joint with the window rolled down, we thought it was "someones" mom,but it turned out the kid was just stupid. I will post the name when I remember it.
