Underage rules

So, I'm thinking of starting to airsoft, I'm 17 and I want to know about any rules and such about playing underage, if there are any restrictions, and if there are places I can go to to show me the ropes/games (I'm thinking of starting to play by myself with no friends, I'm also in Toronto if there are locations)

Also, do shops let you buy gear, airsoft rifle parts, sights, batteries, chargers, and repair guns and show you how to mod/ self repair if you go as a underage?
(I know already that they won't let you buy guns)

Thanks!

First of all Welcome to ASC.

Congratulations, sadly you will not be able to play for another year except at select games and likely not without your parents showing up and playing along side you. Now Sgt. Splatters does allow underagers if a parent/guardian signs the waiver. (Your not 18 so legally they cannot accept a waiver signed by you).

As for your other question? Depends on the parts, but yes.

Find a game (check the games and events section). Contact the admin running it and ask if you can spectate or join in.

Some are strictly 18+ others are 16+ with rules and restrictions (eg. some may require parent playing with you on field, others just the parent has to be on site, and even others that just need your parent to sign the waiver). There are even some places that let younger play but they're few and far between, I can only think of 3 groups and they're all in the west.

Also for gear and such there's no restrictions, parts, depends on what it is, batteries and chargers are all fair game and repairs/workshops are OK too.

I can't tell where you're located, but if you're in Manitoba, the biggest club in the province is Cuddy's Commandos (www.cuddyscommandos.com) and we're an all-ages club. We play every two weeks, and had our first game April 1. We had over 60 guys out, and a great time was had by all.

One of the primary reasons the sport is limited to 18+ is over eagerness.

TopGunnerz, do as L473ncy says and you might be able to get out to a game before your eighteenth.

He is in Toronto. Do your parents support you in your choice to play airsoft? Would a parent be willing to try it out once with you? Possibly an older sibling above the age of 18? This would be your best bet, although some game hosts will allow younger players if they follow some extra rules.

Has any host or admin thought about a mentor program? This would not apply in situations where a waiver needs to be signed, unless a parent or legal guardian could sign the waiver. If a player with some experience with airsoft and its safety, legal and other concerns could act as a battle buddy and play with the young player to ensure they follow all rules. Would hosts accept this in place of a parent or guardian playing with the young player?
