Calling all WE GBBR users* Custom Reinforced parts*

Attention WE users:

I am working on a project with a fellow machinist to start producing some higher quality reinforced parts for the WE gbbr series. In order for this project to get started we really need your input, ideas, and support. As of right now we have a slightly modified and stronger metal part #59 for the m4 based trigger units all laid out , but we need your interest to finally get it going and for these high end pieces to start being produced. Please PM me if you would be interested in such a part.

Also please post or PM me with other parts you WE users would like to be made. I know Ra-tech and CWI have come out with a few upgraded parts, but have heard mixed reviews on them, so I would really like to know from you what changes need to be made and exactly what parts specifically would you like to be reinforced and produced. For starters we are only looking at putting together some of the smaller parts, so sadly no complete bolts will be on our schedule, but maybe with your support and ideas you can help that become possible sometime down the road.

Thanks,

COBB

part 59 hasn't been as much of an issue lately, from what i've heard/seen. Once WE reinforced the part themselves, I suspect that there's been a lot less broken parts.

If anything, I'd see about making reinforced bolt catches, and reinforcing the dust cover device. Both of those items fail pretty regularly. I'm not entirely sure if that is feasible, but I know that both of those parts fail and it would be nice if they would actually work longer than they do.

dust cover nub barely works at all...if ever.

With CNC steel parts....it's one thing to crank out parts and I know each setup/cut is a lot of time/effort...and that finishing is a lot of effort...but please have a mind to how each piece rides/runs/contacts another.

Sometimes the stock parts look "soft"...almost like the molds weren't crisp. But in some instances a sharp corner of hard metal will only serve to carve out the softer part in a no-good sort of way.

If I wanted to make parts I would make:
1. Extended bolt activation levers for the mags (the "L" shaped piece that sticks up to trip the bolt catch...the tip could be higher with many mags).
2. An open-bolt M4 adjustment key. It's a bitch to reach
3. Tighter hopup unit...there's a lot of space/gaps/movement with the stock one
4. Receiver shims
5. bolt catches....and a modded bolt with a replaceable HDMW plastic corner/edge for the bolt stop to hit...and replacement bits for when it wears.
6. drop in trigger group with nicer sear/engagement angles. Being able to adjust travel stop and take up points would be nice.
7. weaker (winter) and stronger (summer) buffer springs...and a stopper with springier material)
8. Replacement Push-button sling stud inserts

For the PDW...I'd like to see a skeletonized lightweight bolt...the stock and RATech ones are pretty heavy.
- I'd also like to see a better recoil "foot" for the spring guide rod.

When you say reinforced, are you talking about steel? What kind of critical mass do you need to begin production?

A few things that come to mind:

1) metal nozzle for M4 open bolt (aluminum or steel...anything is better than their brittle plastic)
2) steel bolt carrier for M4 open bolt (with better tolerances than Ratech)
3) steel charging handle for M4
4) steel bolt catch for 'm4 open bolt
5) steel hop up chamber for M4, ak, m14
6) steel bolt carrier for ak series
7) steel buffer retaining pin

Dust cover nub - adjust the set screw

Winter/summer springs - the WA/G&P ones work

What i'd like to see:

- A more solid (steel) buffer retaining pin (I've had one bend already);

- A2 burst trigger pack;

- clone of a Norgon Ambi catch that fits (the WA one requires a lot of modding);

- a metal bolt (not the carrier, but the actual bolt/nozzle inside currently made of plastic: I've had one break when a BB failed to clear the chamber properly after I had to re-cock);

- aftermarket outer barrels (currently the choices are 10.25", 14.5" or 20", and 11.5" if you cannibalize it off an XM177 [what do you with the rest of the gun?], and rarely-in-stock 7" aftermarket one). 7", 11.5", and 18" would be nice options.

SCAR open bolt nozzle... that is not made of plasticine... broke one on the first jam of the gun... and they are a PAIN to get. Though it would be better if molded out of some MAGPUL polymer, steel bolt/nozzle assembly (not the actual bolt/carrier) with a nylon tube insert where it interacts with the BB would be great.

Steel hop up chamber for m4 - that thing takes a pounding from steel bolt carriers.

Steel bolt catches designed for open bolt

A few parts for the AK74 which would be nice to have from steel would be Part 87 (gets hit by the bolt each time the gun cycles) and the bolt itself. Even though you said you're not doing bolts at this time, I can't help but suggest it : D

My vote is for a refillable CO2 magazine (the same idea as the ProWin mag for the WA series). I keep thinking that perhaps an intermediate solution would be to make a refillable reservoir that replaced the 12g cartridge and screwed in to the threaded hole that normally accepts the pierce valve.

Or CO2 internals for magazines for the whole WE line. WE is taking their sweet time just on the M14.

Danhay's idea would work nicely for magazine types that are too thin for 12g powerlets.

Any closed bolt love is good too. The efficiency of that system is great for the colder weather, but gets overlooked for the "ooh" factor of OB.
