I recently got my G36CV and my lipo battery finally came in today and I am seriously amazed at how well the whole gun functions. Since this was my first AEG I was sort of expecting a sizeable battery compartment for this gun even though its in the front hand guard. Boy was I surprised my lipo battery is like the size of my finger (not length but width) and I could barely squeese the thing in. Overall I'm super happy with the gun so far and can't wait to get out and play with this thing hopefully field play though cause its shooting like 400+ fps. Tell me what you guys think of this gun or have any suggestions on anything else.

Congratulations. The Umarex/ Ares G36 is one of the finest on the market. It should serve you well as long as you take care of it.

I take it you're using either a 8.4v or 9.6v mini brick? I always find that it's better in most cases to use a a nunchuck style battery, since half the cells are separated from one another, allowing easier fitment in most batteries compartments.

Aw missed that part. Regardless, lipos also come in nunchuck configurations!

I think this is one of the best G36's on the market, so many features, and SO cheap. I'd change the spring guide and bucking. Their hop up's very decent, so I have mine at 330 FPS for both CQB and field use. Should expect a range of about 150ft at that speed. A Holosight and the Tokyo Marui "real steel" LowCaps look killer on it.

No I'm using a 7.4v Lipo battery, Hmm I might try that later when i get a second battery but it's really small compartment. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yea this gun is pretty sick but I had to put it together myself and man did it take me forever to figure out how the hop up worked on this thing. On the note about the spring guide and bucking the spring guide I have not taken apart the gun and since this is my first AEG I don't think I want to mess up anything since its new and all that. However I will have to change out the spring cause I need it to shoot for CQB can you tell me which type of spring I should get linear or non-linear and also what tension like M110? or M120?

Since you already have your outdoor spring, you should get a M100. An M110 will likely push you past 350fps (yielding about 360) and could also be too hot for CQB. Also, an M100 will be much more forgiving on your gearbox internals, be less work for the motor and battery to compress, and also, you will likely experience a significant increase in rate of fire relative to your stock spring.

Hope that helps. If you have access to someone who has already swapped a spring on one of these things, I highly recommend getting their help. This is a beautiful piece of hardware so try to go slow and don't force anything

Btw to calculate the approx. velocity, the M should mean meters per second and the number should be how many meters per second. Just convert that to feet.

Edit: forgot to mention that if you use a LiPo, you should have a voltage warning meter and a MOSFET installed to prolong the life of your gun. Might be a lot of money, but it is a good investment since you won't have to worry much after.

No, no, as with most (all? Not really an AEG guy, this is just my CQB backup) ARES guns, it's got a custom gearbox that allows for Quick Spring Change, so when you change the spring (which is ultra easy), you actually go through removing the spring guide. So you'd need to get something like THIS, the stock one doesn't come with the ball bearing, it's actually got a crappy washer instead I think.

The bucking is also easy to change, and has nothing to do with the gearbox, so it's pretty damn safe, and just like any standard Tokyo Marui-based G36.

As for the spring, I generally prefer linear springs, but since I first got a Guarder SP90 which gave me around 300 FPS, I then got a Guarder SP100 which I was sure would get me to the 1 Joule CQB mark (for my country anyway, I don't play in Canada). So from experience, I can only speak for the SP100, which is alright anyway.

BTW, I notice you mention the bucking in this post. You absolutely do not need to change or upgrade this right now. Wait till much later when you're ready to get into the chaos that is hopups and compression. For now, your stock bucking is fine, and your stock spring guide, even with a washer, will be fine as well, especially with a lighter spring. All you will need to change is the spring, and as the poster above said, it's easy.

Thanks for the advice. Incidentally when I putting the whole gun together I figured out how to work the quick change spring system.

Cool glad to know I don't have to start ripping it apart already lol. Also the hop up on this thing doesnt seem to want to stay in place as in I can sort of push it back and forth. I don't know if its just because it's empty in the barrel or what yea... but what ever it shoots and that's all I care about.

Hey guys on a side note what do you guys think of the G&P WOC Sniper V.P.R. $550 but it comes with everything needed. I know I just got my first AEG but like I'm going on a trip later and well I was thinking might as well get it if its cheaper over there. Also I love snipers lol.
