Incomming, VFC HK417!!!

Hi guys!

So, one of my favourite rifles of all time (Even though it was created not long ago!) is coming in the new future!!

I'm talking, of course, of the HK417!
I know that there were quite a few players that would be interested in the HK416's 7.62 big brother!

Apparently, the first airsoft replica would be coming from VFC. As they already have a GBBR and AEG 416, making the 417 version wouldn't be too hard to make!

Here's a picture I took from airsoft2day:

Also, in the next picture, you can see something that looks like a 417, the 5th gun from the left!:

Now, I know some of you might already have heard about this prototype, as I do, but I thought some might find it interesting!!!

One side note, though, A GBBr version would be awesome! Also, we don't know if the 417 will be compatible with Magpul PTS 7.62 mags of they will be proprietary parts!

Someone posted this in another thread. I'm really glad that VFC is making the 416C and 417. Both the 416 and 416C are going to be available as an AEG and GBBR. However, right now the 417 is only going to be an AEG, but hopefully they make a GBBR verison.

Odds are, the mags will be proprietary, considering the VFC SCAR-H used proprietary mags.

I hope they keep the the trade marks like the RS and not butcher it like the last 416.

I don't know why H&K went all G36 with their mags, what a horribly cumbersome mag.
It's too bad they couldn't reuse the G3 mags, but they should have kept the flat sided mags so you can put more than 1 in a pouch lol

I was under the impression that 417s used mags similar to the M14s/SR-25s. Turns out they're proprietary but if VFC really wanted to they can get the 417 to use the same mags as the SCAR-H w/o much trouble.

Nobody makes the 417 true but 4 make the SR 25 (A&K, G&G, G&P and Jing Gong) and three of them are compatible with Pmags (with a bit of sanding in the mag sometime needed but still).

Never tried the 7.62 pmags on my RS (only regular G36-like mags) but given the amount of magpul fashion addicts (me included) I would hardly see them not making it compatible.
And given they can't use the same line as the SCAR mags there would be no excuse to do proprietary.

And the "unhandy" G36 mags consider this :
- Fully translucent : I always know what's in (even on Pmag you won't be able to tell soon enough)
- Big with non-flat surface : easy to grab and hold gloves or no gloves (regular AR15 : slip quite easily)
- No need for redy mag (100/150+ USD accessory) : I couple them and fast reload (its own point)
- Thick sides and polymer : if it bends, come back in place (on AR15 you're screwed and it happens quite a lot)

The G36 is also getting new mags as part of IDZ project (thinner but still with coupling, kinda like a Sig 55x serie, 556 aside) but no matter how much I like the 417 the G36 will always be superior to any AR platform (yeah I said it ).
...now if Mylord H&K could please make a 7.62 version that would be great...
