Interesting widget

I was thinking about the non-pyro grenade issue, as that is a incredible omission of a tactical tool in the way milsims are played. Unfortunately, I don't have any good answers to that problem.
However, as grenades can not only be tossed, but rigged with trip wires to form a trap I was reminded of this gadget. Or likewise, here. Basically, a device that when a trip wire is pulled it activates a glowstick.
There would certainly be no bang, but the light given off would show that the trap had been sprung. Rules could be decided beforehand for the effective radius of the "explosive."

Or do people already use these and I'm just a newbie.

Mouse trap. well, rat trap actually. Loud bang, and easy trigger. If you want you could stick a glow stick in it.

That is what this is for, but you do at least get a bang.

We have used the glowstick ones before but only as sentry replacements in the dark (it's a spooky feeling when you're on a night watch and you start seeing the glowsticks popping around the perimeter...)

That'd probably be freaky, especially if they did it nice and stealthy so they were aware that they were setting off the traps and just did it for spook factor.

Any one else notice that if you click on "Click for a larger Image" on this page. The picture that comes up is actually 1/4 the size???!??!?!?!

That happens a lot that they come up the same size or smaller, it's because they're lazy in their code. And you can see that the image on the site is stretched to hell... Asshats. They're all Asshats.

Gandar: Please link some other ancient videos that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Tankdude: That sounds like a much cheaper DIY alternative. I just wonder if a rattrap would reliably set off a glowstick.

Malinak: That is a nice piece of gear there, and those on the receiving end of the "explosion" would certainly know it. However, it seems a bit pricey at Can$130.00. But I guess hobbies aren't cheap, eh?

I doubt a glowstick would actually be set off effectively by a rat trap, typically they need to be shaken to mix the chemicals properly, you'd get a dim glow I think but nothing to write home about... Someone should try it though, it's a possiblity.

Did anyone notice that the sale price for this item is also more expensive than the original price?

This stuff can be found locally at surplus shops as the CF have these as issue items as well. I've got one NIB sitting in my box of old gear somewhere that I've never used. I think the typical going price is between $20 - 30 for a full set including tripwire and glowstick. But then that was the price a few years ago; not exactly sure how much they are now.

A rat trap will set off a glowstick. The wont that "crack" to illuminate.

Hell, the rat trap at my chalet chopped a BlueJay (somewhat big bird) in half!
