Things to Upgrade
hello everyone
this is my 1st topic in airsoft canada , and i m seeking some help from everyone. i m currently own a TM 5.1 planing to turn it into race gun , it will be shooting with PROPANE my friends already warn me about shooting TM gun with propane but that that all i can get in my area . My first experience with propane is , wow the blowback and FPS is amazing compare to HFC-134 . after around 5 rounds of IPSC in STOCK ( i mean the gun) something happen .... The outer barrel fly of the gun when i m was shooting LOL (you should see how the face of my friend and the judge , all laughing because of that:banghead::banghead: ) , then i fix it by using super glue it back together. On my 7th game , the mag catch suffer serious damage , the edge of the mag catch was DESTROY by the blowback force of the gun . now i need to hold my hand under the mag to keep it in place if not the mag will auto eject when i fire . :banghead::banghead::banghead: so now i need some advice on what internal item i should upgrade before propane start breaking everything apart. i already order the following items .. airsoft surgeon blowblack housing Shooter design slide shooter design loading muzzle shooter design outerbarrel shooter design chamber shooter design compensator shooter design 150% spring set PDI 7 inch 6.01 innner barrel AIP magwell AIP red dot any more internal part i miss ??? or i what should change in order to fire using propane while it wont break the gun anymore ? |

There's a reason why you dont use propane for a marui gun. I've learnt this the hard way because I've screwed up 3 TM pistols just by using propane. 2 of those incidences actually injured me. Due to Japan's airsoft policy, guns are only allowed to be 0.98 joules and not anymore than that. that's why a lot of china and american stuff are actually banned from importing into japan. TM guns are BUILT to break if it shoots harder than it's supposed to.
ANyway, I think you really should consider just sticking with hfc-134a for your TM pistol. If you really wanna upgrade it, get a ksc. TM are good enough with it's 290 fps, it's not like you'll need anything above that for a pistol. The only upgrades you should get, however would be the external stuff and the 6.01 TBB. |

What TM guns have you been using? What you are saying was much more true a few years back, but most recent models will take propane very well. Much of the current line will give a decent useable life span on propane. Besides, most the the failures involve a cracked slide, so all you need to do is move to a metal slide after.

I have been using propane for 3 years in a TM 4.3 and a M.E.U without any problems, same thing with my team mates and buddies? We have a very large Airsoft community and I have never met anyone who uses anything else then propane. A few Co2, once in a while. Do we have guns that break, yes, once in a while, it's airsoft after all I have fired more then 20 mags in each, we have games were we use pistols only I dont baby it much, just good quality silicone in the mags. I use heavy silicone oil that is made for radio controled car shocks. Hope this helps. Last edited by 5kull; July 17th, 2011 at 11:56.. |

oh well, since i live in Hong Kong, propane is often used as a burning hydro carbon source. Most of the time, I just stick with green gas + hfc134a mix with ALOT of silicon oil. I dont think these gas are exposed to anywhere outside of asia, but it is very common here. If you're using propane, you're basically just using it for it's air pressure out of the can. However, hfc134a and green gas are meant to expand even if isolated FROM the can.

anyways... as for not making 20 mags? 20 mags each ATLEAST a game DAY for just over a year and a half .. and they are atleast 4 years old each ... damage? ... i need new hop rubbers, recoil springs, and probably new loading nozzles now...

so they DID break? and btw, green gas is not propane. Propane has a singular bonding between each carbon molecules. Green gas has propane in it, just for pressurization out of the can, but propene is also a major factor of green gas. These macro molecules contain double bonds between carbon molecules, thus, increases the expanding energy and speed once released. Green gas also contains a vast amount of lube, which is highly needed for TM guns.

as for lube, the adapters used for propane have oil reservoirs which during filling lube the mags |

ok ok fine. All guns break, no matter what gas you use or no matter how badly you upgrade them. But using propane over hfc 134a might speed up the process of it.
