Madbull Tracer Question
I just bought a Madbull Tracer and tried it out on my WE GBB PDW. However, it's not working.
I've dropped some red Madbull Precision .20 bb's through the tracer alone and it glows. And yet when I mount it on the gun and shoot, it doesn't glow whether be semi or auto. I'm not too familiar with tracers, but could it be that the gun is shooting too fast? If someone can help, I'd appreciate it. |

I'm assuming you mean the Madbull silencer type tracer unit? I have a TM silencer tracer unit on my AEGs with "stock" RPS(12-20RPS) @ 350FPS/400FPS up to 40RPS @ 350FPS/400FPS. Only issue I have is when the RPS gets to high it doesn't make every BB glow as uniform or as bright and thats only because the sensor can't pick up the BBs that quickly.

OP, try shooting with someone down range. While shooting in full auto, ask them to note if there is muzzle flash. Obviously, make sure they are wearing goggles/full mask, and if you are shooting directly at them (ie. hitting them lol) make sure they are prepared. Or just shoot in their general direction while avoiding them. I have had zero issues using the TM original or the TM new version with my GBBR, AEG's or GBB's. Hi Coachster,
Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone willing, so instead I setted a target in my bathroom facing a mirror to observe any muzzle flash. After attempts on semi and full, I did not notice any flash from within the muzzle. Do you have any other suggestions? Anyone? |

Do you know what fps the bb is exiting the barrel? is there a significant propane "cloud" from the end of the barrel?

No clue on exact fps, I am waiting till the weekend to borrow a chronie and find out exactly, but I don't imagine it to be that high. As for the propane cloud, from what I can see, theres not a significant amount of it exiting the barrel. I also thought perhaps the silicone and propane was somehow blocking the sensor from picking up the bb, but I don't believe that is the case either.

I am assuming the mad bull one is like the TM one. there should be a little red light inside...
you can just drop a BB though it and it will go off.. you don't need the gun for the silencer type... save waste of BB's too try that then if it works you know the FPS is too high for it... or perhaps the Gas expulsion from the barrel is causing some issue.. try it without the gun just drop the tracer round though the silencer.. |

I have the same Madbull unit I use it on an 425FPS KWA KM4A1. It works with that high of FPS so that can't be the problem. It has problems keeping up with 22 rounds per second.
Is you inner barrel out past the outter barrel - if it is, it may be obstructing the light gate. You can test the unit with the outter shell off, just make sure it's dimly light in the area you are testing in. The unit will flash when the light gate is activated. If that doesn't work take the unit off and drop a BB thru it like previously suggested. It will activate the light gate and flash, if it doesn't - change your batteries, if it still doesn't work - the unit is damaged and needs to be replaced. |

IMHO, it might be the unit itself. I haven't experienced tracer units not working with higher fps but how high are we talking here? Regardless though, if you're not getting muzzle flash in f/a then the unit is DOA. It could be full of junk so give it a good clean and make sure you have fresh batteries in it. These things eat batteries like a fat chick on donuts. Propane/silicone spray could be an issue but again, I haven't experienced that neither. Had both the gen1 and gen2 on my TM mk23 and had really oily mags. Maybe confirm by trying a lower fps gun? I can't really comment on the MB units but my JG (knock off TM gen2) did something similar. It would work intermittently and then dies altogether when I tried to game it. I will be transplanting my TM gen1 unit into it eventually. Edit: voorhees is correct too. Make sure your inner barrel doesn't extend more than about an inch into the unit. Last edited by coach; June 22nd, 2011 at 18:50.. |

Interesting..
I managed to get it working, but only by removing the outer shell of the tracer. When the outer shell of the MB tracer unit is removed, I can fully shoot auto/semi with no problems, every bb lights absolutely perfect. However, when I mount the shell back on the unit, none of the shots light up, nor does the unit present a "muzzle flash". Any idea why? |

Broken/cracked cold solder joint, pinched wire, or poor battery connection.

I see. I don't know too much about electrical wiring or any of that sort, so I'll do some more research on that field. Thank you very much for the help everyone--much obliged.

Looking at mine right now and the only issue I can see with wiring are the 2 wires running from the battery cage. One black and the other one, blue. Check the solder joints where the wire lead to the connection joints. Make sure that these points are not out too far and making contact with the shell of the unit. If one of the points looks like it may be out too far, sand it down with a light nail file or high grit sand paper. All these metal pieces around the battery cage should be recessed from the plastic a little bit. It looks like .5 mm or so.
