What model of gun are you using? Hopup units for AEG's are mindlessly simple to assembly and they generally have instructions. Your gun instruction book will have a diagram if the new hopup unit doesnt

The M4 Family of Weapons the Prometheus NEO is the best hopup unit,
For AK family it's the PROWIN i believe. Not 100% sure.

If you're looking at replacing the rubber/bucking go with the ARS hopup rubber from airsoftparts.ca, I've ran this in 2 different AEG's and have had flawless function out of them.

if you're getting an m4 or m16 style hop up, I strongly suggest the king arms metal enhanced hop up chamber. 35$ for everything except the bucking. It's a one piece metal chamber, but that isn't where it shines.... It's how sound and sturdy the barrel sits in it.
That's makes a good hop up;

When you put the barrel and hopup chamber together, you want the bucking to be as straight as possible to the horizon when it's engaged. Otherwise, your bb's will curve left or right depending on which side of the bb is getting more contact with the "bump" above it, which is the bucking.

You might look down your barrel through the hopup (when It's out of the gun, never when it's assembled) and see the bucking is perfectly straight, but if there is any wobble or play with any of the parts, the way it is in your hands probably won't be the same as when it's been assembled in your gun. Vibrations and compression from firing as well as mags being inserted and pulled out can throw it off.

Again, I've had great results with the king arms enhanced hopup chamber. It's metal (METAL!), and nothing budges when It's all together.... I'm sure you can't go wrong with the prommy one, but I'm guessing it's way more expensive because, well let's face it, it's prommy, the dolce & gabbana of airsoft.

heres the chamber i got, in 2 days!!!

For buckings, I'm using a guarder clear silicone..... I really don't know which is the best, but I'll tell you one thing, I'm NEVER going to pay 15-20$ for a bucking... that's just ridiculous... I think if someone assembled a gun with a 6$ systema bucking or guarder clear silicone (or any reputable bucking in that price range) and made I video comparison test for accuracy with the same gun with like an expensive firefly bucking there wouldn't be much of a difference... It probably might perform better, but not much better. And ESPECIALLY not 3x times better, because it is 3x more expensive after all.

Just get a reputable one, read reviews, and i guarantee it'll be much better than the stock one. Even my 600 dollar VFC hk416's stock bucking sucked. You'll know when you replace it

happy and careful modding!

I have tried a few different M4 style hopups
I have the king arms one previously mentioned, I have used systemA and even a
cheapy metal one (god knows who made that one)
but recently I have been using the New modify units.
they come with 2 arms, one full (nubless) and one open.
I dont mind them But if you forget the little rubber oring under the gearset.
it will not hold the hopup setting.

I have a PDI 455mm TBB with a Guarder Black Rubber with a Modify Hopup chamber using the
Nubless arm (but gently dremeled to a Concave type of feel)
its a snug fit to get the barrel and rubber in.
they are very good together.

Yup, most m4's are tokyo marui clone and will take the m4/m16 style hop up. I think only ICS' are different but I could be wrong...

As far as the madbull chambers, I don't know. Keep searching and scan out sites that sell it for a detailed review. If the king arms is only 10 or 15 bucks more, I say go for it, because you will not be disappointed... You can come over and beat me with a burning toaster if you are, I swear by it.

well scooter's had both the modify (25$), which looks good and is priced even better, as well as the king arms. I wonder which he preferred. Madbull makes a great 6.01 for 40$, i love mine... It's super smooth and the bore is extremly precise. They're definitely a reputable brand for barrels but I've heard 50/50 as well for their buckings.... I'd shy away from them for now for anything hopup related if the reviews arent very promising. youre better off spending a little more rather than spending less and having to replace once more.

I actualy have a Madbul 3 in 1 with a madbul rubber and 455mm V2 Balck madbul barrel.

Ok the hopup.. not a fan, couldn't seem to get it to feed the bbs (I was new) with the knowledge I have now. Maybe just maybe, area the little spring fit in (the one that pushes the hopup against the front of the mechbox) the upper was to deep and the hopup was out of position.

The hopup Rubbers... not a fan.. no matter what barrel i used i couldnt seem to get a
consistant FPS (20 point jumps)
when I put in a guarder i would have a 4 or 5 fps varience in the same system.

The 455mm Barrel - It was in my 481 FPS VSR and out to about 75 feet it was ok, afte that
the bbs spread like a shot gun (30Wt Devils)

I did try it in a M4 with the king arms Hopup assembly with guarder black rubber and
a FPS around 360, it was tight out to about 120 feet with 28 bastards and 30 wt devils.

So my consensus.
the barrel Not to shabby, find the right BB and hopup rubber you'll be in like Flynn.

The hopup rubbers.. YA NO. hell tempt fate BABY try the modify ones, I am.
So far on aegs under 420 with Rofs ranging from 8 BBs Per sec (411 Avg FPS) to
20 BBs persec at 373 FPS and they hold up nice so far

the hopup assembly Needs to be retested but at 25 for a modify with 2 control arms
i dont think i'll testing soon

Ps i likethe king arms aswell but when dollars are dollars ..
well to quote the Great Geddy Lee "10 bucks is 10 bucks"
