Defective product alert: Guarder SCW nozzle

Guarder upgrade SCW nozzles are of defective design.

While the design of the upgrade part closely replicates exterior features of the stock part, there are missing features on the inside which are critical for proper functioning of a SCW GBB.

This is one real bugger :banghead: got one from Den a few months back it resulted to some erratic mis-feeds and never ending slide lock-ups, I think it has something to do with missing small tabs inside the nozzle. This tabs holds the cup (the thingy that you place the flow restrictor) in place, on the defective Guarder it will go through all the way in front blocking gas port where the magazine comes in contact.

Anyway got new set from Guns&Guys but this time its made by Shooters Design its white in color.

I use a dial caliper, and of course a vernier micrometer.

I'm curious what these defective parts do. Blow back does not work?

Exactly what Landmine says.

There are little shoulder features which register against a plastic part which is backed by a spring. The Guarder part doesn't have the shoulder features so the part just follows the reed valve instead of switching from "fire" to "recoil" mode. Essentially the path to the breech is always closed so the bb never sees a significant blast of gas and the gun goes straight to recoil mode.

Because the part can also obscure the nozzle port on the bottom, it can also restrict gas flow into the blowback internals so slide recoil can be affected.

I have no beefs with digi cals. I have a waterproof Mitutoyo myself. I was meaning to say that a pair of calipers isn't enough make you a good engineer. You still have to test things out to see if they actually work. Any hack can measure things up and make a reasonable looking copy of something. Actually appreciating the subtleties of a product and duplicating the INTENT of a product too is an extended effort.

I'm really P/O'ed because Guarder apparently didn't take one of their nozzles and actually stick it into a GBB to see if it really worked properly. I've also had problems with their AEG springs which shoot significantly hotter than their ratings would indicate. Their response is that nothing is wrong although I have provided them with actual chrony results (with their own optical chrony no less) on several AEGs. This is embarassing to me as I retail their products and have to issue replacements or refunds to my customers.

Gaah. Their manufacturing quality is very good, but they really have to get into doing some rigorous product testing. Well manufactured parts still have to be carefully designed to be good products.

Digi calipers eh, well I will at least give them points for not using a rule. Meh they probably use Busy Bee brand mics and calipers anyways

I do find it funny at the fact there are so many companys out there (Not just airsoft) that dont have a proper QC department or even person with the proper tools to check items.

QC is given to summer students who are too lazy to find a real job.

Not to offend anyone, but this has been my expirence when working for Irving.

Does this also include their other enhanced loading nozzles? Or is this specifically an alert for the SCW ones?

The WA nozzle for Magna GBBs is ok. I'm not sure, but they may have fixed the SCW ones. I complained about this to them quite some time ago.
