Battery and Charger for VFC

Hello all,

New to airsoft and just been researching these days about AEGs, I had my eyes on the VFC HK416 and the SOPMOD M4. However they do not come with battery or charger.

I read the newbie thread regarding the explanation of battery, however I still don't know what kind of battery will fit? The VFCs have a crane stock, so is there a specific battery shape that will fit into it? In addition, I don't really understand what is a good charger and if the charger will charge the specific battery I get

Could you guys please help by providing some examples of battery and charger that will be good for the VFC AEGs? This way I will have a starting point of research? Some insights on the functionalities for the charger will be appreciated as well.

How much should I spend on my first battery and charger? Some ppl say it is good to have a good charger but they can run up to 300 bucks,that is kinda high of a budget, is there a reasonable priced one? ($50-100)

Also, before anyone points out, I am in the process of getting Age verified, ppl are busy so I have to wait until they are available.

King Arms 11.1v 15c lipo (make sure you know what a lipo can do and how to properly use it with charger and gun) will fit in the buffer tube, if you don't want a lipo you can get a nun chuck style batt like a 9.6v i like intellect batt's and they fit as well


as for charger, i personally use a Imax B6 which is a charger that will charge all diff kind of batt's and has a lipo balancer. Airsoft parts has this one just has a different name

It is definitely better to get a good charger right from the start. A smart/balance charger is recommended and should only run you $60-$100 at most and will last you for quite some time. And the good thing with some of these smart/balance chargers is whether you buy NiMh, NiCd, LiPo, or LiFe batteries, the charger will be able to charge each and every one of them properly without reducing their life expectancy.

As for batteries any NiMh nun-chuk style battery 9.6v battery should fit in the crane stock or alternatively a compact LiPo 11.1v 15C (3 cells) should also fit the buffer tube.

There is a dumb charger and a smart charger (these are the $300 ones)


Read up on Lipo Batteries before crossing that bridge make sure its what you want as it gives you different results than a reg battery.

Dumb charger you have to time how long to have the battery plugged in or you can damage or ruin your battery. Its recommended that you drain your battery fully before recharging. These run around $20.

Smart charger stops charging the battery when it is full and still plugged in, this reduces damage and extends the life. Smart charger prices vary. Some chargers have a decharge or drain option that allows you to full drain the battery before recharging.


If you do things right you shouldnt have any issues with a dumb charger. But if you want to be more carefree with your charging and set and forget then get a smart charger.

1) For using LiPo 11.1v 15C, in the battery write up it is suggested to change all the wires for at least 16ga, is this necessary for VFC? if so, is there any tutorial of how to do this? There is alot of other things needs to be done "heavy-duty" triggers,MOSFET to re-route the current from the contacts, etc, are there tutorial for these?

3) How long/how many shots can a 9.6V 4500mAh battery do?

I want to see what is the delta between the two to see whether it is worth the price jump?

you will be fine with running an 11.1v 15c lipo with out doing any modification to wiring harness. I know this from experience and have run them in my own scar.
