Which Metal frame match SD V12 metal slide
Hi, I have a TM MEU and plan to upgrade it with Shooters design Springfield V12 metal slide. However it's hard to find good 1911 metal frame that has similar finishing with the slide. I found that guarder alumunium metal conversion kit matches the color but Illusion said that guarder is a crap, so I'm looking for a better one.
Anybody experience the same issue as mine ? Please share. Oh, 1 more thing, I want to upgrade it with silver or black color V12 metal slide, not the dual tone one. Thanks. |

huh? what other frame choices would you have?.....its a 1911... you get the normal 1911 frame, and the Kimber railed frame... and I think that's pretty much it...
PS: you are aware that you CANT import pistol frames in Canada right ? |

I believe the silver slide has a sandblasted finish? I'd imagine it would match with SD's MEU frame. But that's just a guess.

We have PGC, Nova, SD and err... guarder.
Yes, Illusion, it's sandblasted. SD MEU frame would be the best to match the slide but I can't find any store that still has it. Anybody ? I think my best options are PGC or Nova. Still hard to decide though >_< |

Be careful, that is a 1911 Military Model frame, which is different from MEU frame.
The rear tang area is different - it will not accept modern beavertail grip safeties. Only the Military Model grip safety, which also means you can only use Military Model hammer (modern style hammer does not work with Military Model Grip Safety.) You could modify the tang to fit modern grip safety, but it is a lot of work and careful filing required. |

I already warned about that and I'm taking the risk. But when I made the decision, I thought I could just modify the beaver tail, not the frame. Can I just do that ?
And also I was told that if it doesn't solved the problem (I messed the beaver tail), I can just buy a modern beavertail that fits old model frame. Is it true ? |
