Upgrade ideas for pistol, and long inner barrel.
Hey there!
I'm looking for some upgrade ideas for my KJW 1911 MEU. It's the Co2 version which is what I'm using now. It gives me roughly 350FPS with .2. I'm not looking to increase power but just accuracy and tight-grouping without increasing my fps... At least not over 400fps... The Madbull threaded barrel set seem to be what I'm leaning towards, but the 25% increase in fps would toss my pistol over the outdoor field limit. Any thoughts? Second, I have a 650mm inner barrel I don't want to waste it so I'm willing to start a new gun project just so I can put that in good use. I originally got it for my L96 but from what I was told it's too long for a standard L96 cylinder and modifying parts for a bolt action would end with a disaster, like cutting the inner barrel down.... The only other airsoft gun that use a 650mm is a PSG-1 which I hear is one of the toughest gun to work with... Also the rarest. I'm thinking of building an M16 with a silencer or a 12' madbull JP kit. I'm thinking maybe I could grab a PSG-1 cylinder set and put it in an m16 gearbox. I research that the PSG-1's gearbox is a v4, so would the cylinder be the same though? If not, any thought on what I should do with this 650mm inner barrel or where I could get a large enough cylinder?... Thanks for the help again. It's just that winter time can be really boring. So eventually those airsoft dealer site starts to get lots of visit from me. Last edited by highny; January 7th, 2011 at 01:39.. |

If you change to a 7" inner barrel from a 5" on the CO2 1911, you're probably looking at something like a 30-50 FPS increase so it would be very close to the 400fps limit.

Can't fix my own guns. Willing to fix yours.

for an accuracy increase on the KJW 1911, start by taking the barrel bushing off and putting some aluminum tape around the inside of it, same with around the end of the outer barrel, because the KJW is sloppy and the spaces there have a large effect on precision, its cheap and easy

With what is said above. Any tightbore barrel will work for your 1911. In regard to the FPS, for one you are lucky to get it at 350 perfect and two the FPS Increase will be anywhere from 0-7 FPS difference (depening on the inner diameter of the barrel, you could get more). If you really want the accuracy a longer tightbore barrel will help you more so than anything else. So a suppressor with an extended inner barrel would work. Might want to go with a 6.03 to a 6.05 inner barrel (I found a 6.01 gave me shit groupings compared to the stock barrel). Also adding a few stripes of black electrical tape around the internal barrel to make the barrel wobble less while in the external barrel helps to have more consecutive shots.
In regards to the 650mm barrel you can do what I suggested with the 1911. Get a long enough suppressor and a few barrel spacers and you're back in business on you l96.

Sweet to hear my fps would still be reasonable.
Here is another question. Is it possible to turn my kjw 1911 into full auto? If so, what are some issue I might have in the short/long run? Any ideas? |
